Reviews for Sleight of Hand
chapter 1 . 11/3/2017
Brilliant. I would accept this as an AU. Poor, mistrustful genie!
Rosa Cotton chapter 1 . 1/20/2017
Short yet well written! The dark twist with Genie is particularly intriguing.
Achille Talon chapter 1 . 8/24/2016
Excellent. Though I wonder why he didn't play tricks with Jafar.
BeautifulHalfBlood chapter 1 . 3/31/2016
This story is excellent. It is well written and creative with descriptive languages. It has a deliciously dark twist to it. While I doubt that it's realistic for Genie to think like this, I still very much enjoy this character twist! Genies are supposed to be tricksters, after all. In another movie, perhaps this could be explored. Absolutely brilliant and I look forward to reading more of your stories! (Although I'm worried that you've ruined me for exploring the Aladdin fandom, ha ha.)
chapter 1 . 10/20/2015
Oh yes oh yes, you should write another chapter for when Jaffar get the lampe ! Why I didn't I think about that earlier. I'm sure it would be very engrossing to read if you wrote it !
chapter 1 . 10/20/2015
After re-reading this - I must say, the syntax is engrossing and the interpretation rings true.

Even if there are a few other as likely for them : as djinni turned rogue that were found deserving of mercy, and so were shackled to learn to atone or a lesson in lieu of being destroyed/condemned/etc right away ; or as simple sorcerers who made the wrong pact and got bound in the mess.
Thisaccountmustbedelted chapter 1 . 1/11/2015
Dark twist that I wish was a story.
ScyRy chapter 1 . 5/26/2014
now this is a twist that got me shivering... and grinning in exitement :D
Desiree1717 chapter 1 . 3/23/2014
Oh dear. O.O
Beansie chapter 1 . 7/10/2013
I came to the Aladdin section just to see what it may offer. I did not expect to find anything written so well or so poignantly. That being said, I was completely taken by surprise by this story. It's a very dark twist on a story I grew up loving, but it makes perfect sense in consideration to the myths about genies. This story thrives more in what is only implied and not explicitly explained. It's short, sweet, and to the point. It's dark and deep and while I am thankful that nothing like this occurred in the original movie, I have thoroughly enjoyed this story. I read it over four hours ago and I cannot get it out of my mind. Keep up the entertaining work.
SapphireSecret chapter 1 . 7/3/2013
Wow, that was dark. I loved it though! Very creative, I had never thought of that before.
CheetahBaby chapter 1 . 5/17/2013
The previous reviewers pretty much said what I was thinking, "childhood memories... crushed." I adore that you worked in the "real" mythos with the Disney concept. How perfect! Certainly describes why Genie was nice, kind, and generous. It's a little like Ariel. I adore Little Mermaid, but mythological mermaids were really monsters that tried to drown you (like the ones in Peter Pan). Excellent blending of the two treatments. Also, the short and sweet style was perfect as well, like a missing scene or chapter. Congratulations on a job well done! I'd love to see more. Well-written too. Thank you for sharing!
Vanillasiren chapter 1 . 1/26/2012
Good god, what a wonderfully devious twist on the story. Part of me wants to scream "You ruined my childhood!" by making the big blue affable Genie evil, but this is so damn well-written that I can't really complain. Well done.
Silvara chapter 1 . 9/15/2011
I always felt that the Genie was understimated. There is little litterature about them and this one intrigued me. So, thank for showing this hidden possible aspect of the character. It seems very plausible and logical.

I've read a great modern and very realist fantasy featuring a genie some months ago. A very memorable story through. I could give you the url if you're inerested ; just PM me.
little.tel chapter 1 . 1/26/2011
Gosh that's a twist on the genie character that I've never seen before. And yet it makes perfect sense. Nice going. Short, to the point, I liked it. _
