Heartbroken but great story.

Is it Flowers for Algernon?

Should be listed as a TRAGEDY not drama. Also could have given a warning for character death, at least I could have prepared better mentally. Quite disappointing ending. Have to give it a thumbs down.

This made me cry. So sad

I don’t often write reviews, but I had to for this story. “Awake” is one of the best fanfics I’ve ever read. Compelling characters that make you want to laugh and cry and hug them? Check. Pacing? Check. Writing and style? There are no words.

You wrote in the summary, “Because Artward breaks my heart.” He broke mine, too. He’s so lonely, it tore me up. I could relate because I’m lonely, too, though I think his is a special brand of loneliness. It’s somehow more sad when the person who is lonely doesn’t understand why they’re lonely or how to change it.

You know writing is good when it makes you cry. I cried during the epilogue when Edward asks Jasper if Bella will hear his music. I had not read “Flowers for Algernon” prior to this, and even though I Googled the summary, I still hoped “Awake” would have a happier ending. Looking back, there were many hints that a HEA wasn’t in the works. Glad you stuck with this ending, though. It fits, it really does.

After reading this, I read the short story version of “Flowers for Algernon.” It was sad, but it wouldn’t have made me tear up if I hadn’t read your story first. I couldn’t help replacing Charlie with Edward and imagining him writing those entries… Yeah. Emotional impact x2.

Alright well I'm crying so thanks. But really, this was such a beautiful story and probably one of my favorite Edwards to date. Um and I will probably most definitely never read the book this story is based on because wow no can't do that again. Awesome job with this!
