Read this story from start to finish in the last couple of days and I love it! It has a similar feel as my all-time favourite 'Don't Panic!' (and its sequel, both by boz4PM), another realistic-GFiME, and I'm thrilled to have found another one written at the same level of sophistication and skill. At first the prospest of no romance put me off, but in the end the story didn't really need any (although the Maddie/Boromir ending did make me very happy). And the lack of romance in HwtF has been quite sufficiently compensated in your drabble collection, which I've been eagerly devouring ever since I finished the main story today. Not sure how actively you read reviews anymore, but I just wanted to drop in a thank you for taking the time to create the HwtF universe and your dedication to finishing this epic story!

Usually the OC is emotionally immature - to an extreme extent. Many other fanfictions that have received similar attentions (such as your's) follow that same, silly pattern. Your's was unique and original and I spent probably too much of my time reading it.

Oh my god! I just have to say that this is my favorite fic of all-time. I mean I just finished marathon reading it, but I'm absolutely positive that I will never read anything as amazing as this story ever again. Middle Earth and LOTR is not my typical fandom. But I dabble now and then, and goodness am I glad that I found this gem. I loved everything about it. I'm just devastated that it's over, although the outtakes are definitely helping the grieving process.

I finished your story last night on my phone, and had to wait until I could get to my desktop to review.

First of all, I'd like to say you succeeded in your goal of keeping your character realistic. I'd say this is the best "Girl-dropped-into-M-e" since "Don't Panic" by Boz4PM, and I never thought I would find another as good as that. You proved me wrong! I loved Maddie, and thought she was a wonderful character, going from crazy-panicked to able to deal with just about anything thrown at her. The character growth was so gradual and well-paced, and even though she changed in many ways, she also remained essentially her own self as well.

I also felt that you kept the canon characters in character as well. Good job with the hobbits (I am very picky about them), but you did well with them, especially with Bilbo and Merry!

And of course, I loved Boromir in this!

I don't like to leave spoilers in a public review, but I will say that I loved the ending very much, and thought it ended in just the right place!

I just left a rec for this in my LJ, so I hope it will bring you some new readers for this magnum opus!

THIS STORY WAS AMAZING! I read it all in a single day and I regret nothing.
The ending blew me away! I'm so glad the you decided to include a little romance towards the end. I would love to know if there are any companion one-shots, or a sequel.

My goal is simply to make a girl fall into Middle Earth and not be a Mary-Sue, canon-killer, or frankly, a complete cliché. Hence the reason why she isn't aware of Lord of the Rings initially. Are the hints that might change obvious enough?

Couldn't you have just made her come from a world where it didn't exist at all? I could understand not realising the midgets with the hairy feet were hobbits if you never read the material, but even people who haven't so much as watched the films would know the name Bilbo Baggins. It's been in commercials everywhere.

She just comes off as completely retarded now. As in, full-blown mental retardation, likely due to dark magic or author fiat.

This has been the best lotr fanfiction I have ever read. Like... I want to read fanfiction about this. It's that good.
