nessy22 chapter 32 . 6/15
I absolutely loved the suspense and tension, full of passion in this story. There were times, I just couldn't stop reading, because I was so captured.
There is one thing though: Wickham was paralyzed and lives as a quadriplegic. Surviving even as a paraplegic was very difficult at these times (depends of the exact kind of injury). I think, he would have died not long after his accident (if long,a few weeks/months maybe?) of renal failure or other infections (lungs, or wounds). People forget, that only about 70-90 years ago, they developed a concept of techniques and cures, that made surviving rates for people with a spinal cord injury got higher.
There is an interesting article " spinal cord injury-past, present and future-ncbi" were Nelsons fatal injury was described as " an ailment not to be treated". The bullet went trough his spinal cord.

I found this story recently and think it is very thrilling. Love the tension so far!
There is one thing though, that I'm not sure of. Was there really existing something like a police in the regency? I though not. If someone were committing a crime, he was brought to the magistrate. The victim had to catch the culprit by himself. There were the Bow Street Runners in London, but in the countryside? I have to admit though, I'm really not a specialist in these things! It attracted only my attention. So I mentioned it.

mangosmum chapter 12 . 2/14
Its so frustrating when men feel that they need to " protect " their wives by not telling her that she's in danger. They never realized that knowledge is power. If she knows then she can see if anyone is acting wrong etc. Great writing!
Guest chapter 32 . 1/4
