19Teardrop94 chapter 5 . 11/6
I was so eager to see if they would reconcile or even speak to one another. Nope... I really freakin' enjoyed it though! My heart aches for both of them. Bleeds for them, as cheesy as that sounds. I hope you continue or update, something, soon. I wouldn't mind reading more.

You really should update this story sometime, it's really good.
Colliequest chapter 5 . 11/10/2016
I remember reading this story some time ago. And when you updated the story, I've kept it tabbed for...months, until reading it tonight. Holy frick I'm slow. (I'm doing a lot of stuff and have a ton of hobbies to occupy my free time with, so stuff like reading fanfiction gets put off.) But anywho.

I LOVE your writing. It feels so real and authentic. After reading this chapter, of course, I had to go and reread the others to refresh my memory. And it was a pleasure to do so. I will definitely be eager for the next update.
Qwertymann chapter 5 . 6/28/2016
Yet another excellent, lengthy chapter dripping with phenomenal detail. I had almost forgotten about this story until I received the notification that it had been posted to the site. Thank you for giving me exceptional reading material at the crack of dawn and keeping me awake until the wee hours of the morning. No sarcasm.

So this chapter had me thinking a lot about Rie. How a child becomes a bully, more often than not, stems from a lack of compassion from parents/guardians. At a young age, things we witness and experience have more of an impact on us than any other point in life. Her behaviour couldn't be defaulted to that because of caring parents. She has no sympathy. She wants to see someone burn more than herself. But why? Surely, meeting Tomoya during that encounter would have an affect on one's attitude, but it feels there must be something more there. The level of which her bullying approached was extremely harsh for a seven-year-old. I anticipate more exploration on this, almost as much as I anticipate the relation developing between Ushio, Tomoya, and her grandparents. As one final side note on Rie, usually the female takes the last name of the male in a wedding. Is there something more to this as well, or was it as simple as the female's name was liked more?

Moving on from Rie, Sanae was almost like an "elephant in the room" kind of deal, what with her crazy and violent outburst towards Tomoya. It made me rather uncomfortable, and picturing sweet, lovely Sanae doing that to him was difficult... but understandable. As if slowly filling up, the water eventually overflows from its container. It's what she felt like here, reaching her breaking point; desperation and anger and sorrow - wanting the impossible. I felt all these things from Sanae and to see her break like that broke my heart. How could you put me through that? Though, it's acceptable and understandable. She didn't know what to do anymore.

Ah, and Akio. Slowly and surely I can see where the anger would build up towards Tomoya over these years, and his silence... would cause it to fester into full-blown hatred. I don't have much else to say here, but damn. Tomoya better work hard to make this guy un-hate him. Or.. maybe you'll take this story in a more sinister direction? That's an entertaining thought, but probably just my sadism speaking.

FINALLY, I'll comment on our star and idol Ushio (and by extension, Tomoya). What a character; wow. Emotionally swinging from utter hopelessness to a strong outlook, Akio has clearly taught her well. How she's a hard-fighting teen, some how dealing with everything. With the crap Tomoya left her with all her life in those few encounters, causing her to care nothing for him. Ushio has to deal with all that, then the man himself shows up. I find it funny how she still sprayed him. Probably clinging to some hope that it would make him go away. But oh no, it won't. The pieces are in place, the stage is set... this chapter feels like a cliffhanger to an epic conclusion, though I'm fully aware we're about to dive into the heart of the story. Is Tomoya finally ready to face his daughter, in a non-drunken state, and try and talk to her? Is Ushio ready to open her mind to the possibility he isn't a total fuck-up?

For now, only you know these answers, and the next update I eagerly await it to start to unravel these questions.

And remember, if you have writer's block... Shoulders back. Stand tall. Don't Cry. Persevere.

I really hope you continue this some day. Very impressive work.
JM38LACK chapter 5 . 6/9/2016
And, so, what was thought dead returns, what was thought abandoned, restored.

It has been beyond two years since I bestowed my first review upon this story. From then to now, so much has changed, nothing remaining in perpetuity; and naught but a faint memory of this tale remained with me, a fleeting hope that continuation might be realized.

Then came the notification of your update, and my alarm at the length pursuant of my investigation into whether or not it was only you briefly updating people on your status.

I prepared myself for a long-haul, fearing this tedious task of reading such a long update in spite of it being the herald of revitalization. These sentiments were soon put to shame when I could not part my eyes from what I read, and, as a monument to your writing abilities, I was hungry for more, come the end of this chapter, a hunger that rarely bares itself.

Save a few exceptions, scarcely am I so enamoured by a tale that disturbs me so. What tethers this story to Clannad is obvious, but I hold the opinion that this story transcends the "tame" nature of the series, being elevated to a higher domain of emotional story-telling. That is not me downplaying the original series-I could never be so audacious to belie the formidable emotional attachment I have for what I consider a masterpiece that speaks to me on an emotionally personal level.

This "continuation" is tailored in a more severe robe of excellence, one which the answer for "is it better" I dare not hope for.

That the innate nature of Clannad has been preserved here, among all of this elevation, is an achievement you should be proud of. Akio is still Akio. Sanae remains Sanae. Though I would not be entirely respectful of your portrayals were I to purposely neglect some exceptions.

Regardless of what dramatic perfection I see in your portrayal of Sanae, I could never imagine her ever entering a physical confrontation with another individual, let alone add anger to a raised voice. Though, for closure on my part, I have devised several canonical answers to her aggressive nature. The multiple-world hypothesis could imply "mutations" of character personalities in parallel worlds. If the possibilities are infinite, there could be a distinct world for every subtle change, for every conceivable difference large or small. The world you have presented to us could be a parallel world with several "mutations". The obvious one is that Nagisa remains deceased. Another is several personality alterations, either birthed by how the characters coped with Nagisa's death, or having always existed (perhaps Sanae always was less passive than her canonical counterpart, or perhaps she grew to this extreme through coping methods different to those employed by the canonical Sanae).

I have my doubts you expected such interpretation or theories to come of something so mere as the amplification of character emotions to heighten the dramatic tension of your writing. But where I find inconsistencies, I go to lengths to justify them, if only for myself.

I apologize for not speaking further of this chapter's contents. It was a large read, and I write this review several days after my initial read: memory gaps I cite as a valid justification. But I hope I conveyed my thoughts with enough clarity to provide you with the feedback such majesty deserves.

I await eagerly the chapters to come.

These have been the words of a fan.

tadkins chapter 5 . 5/31/2016
Oh the feels...oh the gut-wrenching "hits me where it hurts" feels. So happy to have an update after so long (I was wondering when one would come and you didn't disappoint). This chapter was both great to read and sad to read. It gave a backstory on what happened during the first 3 meetings but also established the events that led up to Ushio's personality, her friendships/feuds (that's the best word I can come up with in regards to Fujibayashi) with people her age and feelings towards Tomoya. Speaking of Fujibayashi, are we ever going to see why there's such an antagonistic/jealously filled air about her towards Ushio (and does she have any relation to Kyou and Ryou?).

Anyways, Ushio's pissed beyond belief, which was to be expected. It's going to be interesting to see how her and Tomoya deal with being under the same roof for a month without killing each other (or more accurately Ushio killing Tomoya). Can't wait for that storm to happen.

On another note...Tomoya...poor poor Tomoya. I rewatched the anime a bit of time ago just for the hell of it and decided to pay attention to Tomoya's characterization in more detail. In short, he's a mess despite seeming to be an okay student (with a bit of delinquency thrown into the mix).
All Day Tsundere chapter 5 . 5/31/2016
I'm a new reader to to your story, I haven't been following it for a long time like many people here but I still think that this is one of the best Clannad fanfics out there and with only 5 chapters out that's quite a feat. You made each and every new character feel like real character and not generic cut-outs, I especially love the way you handled Ushio giving her a unique blend of a personality Thr old characters are true to form and have more depth something that i appreciate greatly. The way you create drama in this story is up there with Jun Maeda the original creator so much so that this feels like the continuation of a "bad end" route. I would love to see Tomoya and Ushio interact, i would love to see a reluctant bond to form between them evwntually turning into a real fathrr-daughtrr relationship.I can't wait for Tomoya to nostalgically talk about Nagsia whilst Ushio listens, my feels probably couldn't take that scene but it'd be great regardless and i'd love to see them pull off some funny pranks too! keep up the good work and I hope you post again soon.
YKuN chapter 5 . 5/30/2016
You made me feel absoultely horrible with every read line, anger, sadness, despair. Even though a few part were overkill, you managed to convey your character's feelings pretty well. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter, and hope that you stop torturing me with the cliffhangers. Good luck, and keep up the good work. Peace
AkaiArashi1 chapter 5 . 5/30/2016
Holy shit, this chapter was dark as hell. I really love Tomoya and don't think he did right, with leaving Ushio alone for years but this is really a bit too much. He loves Ushio really much but I'm really confused about how this story is going to turn out. Hopefully they will be together because this is hurting my heart so much.
