Congrats on catching the Snape and Lily connection so early! I suppose it was always logical, but we never really knew where to look for the clues. Will review once I finish, but wanted to mention that :)

Great story! You had me worried more than once, but this really was terrific!

This was incredible! Lovely and sad and heartbreaking and poignant in turns. I loved so many things about it and simply couldn't stop reading long enough to leave a review until now.

First, I love that Harry is such a central part of this story. In SS/HG stories, Harry is usually swept to the side and ignored, only coming out to call Snape a greasy git once or twice. You embrace Harry and make this story just as much about him and his growth as about Severus and Hermione, and I truly appreciate that.

I also love so many of the details in this story. Hermione's animagus form. The moments with Sirius and Remus. The way that Severus finds himself taking Hermione as an assistant despite himself. The fact that Hermione is so surprised to find that people on the other side are normal and, even, nice. The part where Severus commands Hermione's hair to straighten. The fact that Snape just cannot face the day until he's had a least one cup of coffee. All the details about Dumbledore's vacation cottage especially those mirrors (what an interesting idea that is). The moment when Snape is rocking Hermione to sleep after she's tortured. You've done so many wonderful and imaginative things with the Harry Potter world.

I especially want to commend you on your characterization of both Snape and Hermione. They are so in character-Snape is prickly and angry and annoyed and even damaged but also reluctantly impressed by Hermione and so, so capable and strong and brilliant. And Hermione is brave and loving and fierce but also unsure and afraid and aware of the gaps in her knowledge and experience. I adore the way they grow to appreciate that the other is a kindred spirit, and I love their bonding over potions. I particularly like the rather twisted humor Snape wrangles out of Hermione and how it always surprises him to find her witty and funny. I also particularly like the part when Snape snarkily acknowledges that Hermione is perhaps the only student he's taught who might be able to make the potion. Such lovely moments.

Congratulations on this interesting, entertaining, heartwrenching, and incredible story. Thanks for sharing it with us. It was wonderful.

I thoroughly enjoyed this prologue, which I found via someone's favourites. I notice that you have not posted anything for many years, so may be no longer interested in fanfiction, whether writing it or receiving reviews. Therefore I will probably not trouble your inbox by writing anything about the future chapters.

If this had been a Harry based story then I might have worried that he is too powerful but, as it is not, the prologue, which hardly mentioned the main characters of this fic, just seemed to show that it would be a slow paced story, which is what I enjoy. Looking forward to reading the rest at a leisurely pace over the course of the day (Easter Monday, a bank holiday in the UK)
