I had never really considered this as a pairing until I realised that Draco's a 'dragon' and Charlie's a dragon tamer and I kind of ship it based on that now. I was curious to see how their relationship would work, though. I think they're both in-character, and I liked your own character as well. I thought it worked well that she was an important part of the story, but you didn't overdo it and make it all about her. I thought the relationship was believable and their discussion and apprehension was realistic. I imagine that wizards would probably have some knowledge of or magic equivalent to surrogacy, but this was cute nonetheless and I liked Draco in it. :3

So, as I've said a million times, I am not really a slash person. BUT, what I dislike about it in general is that usually the entire focus of nearly EVERY slash fic I've ever read is about their relationship, and a lot of it doesn't go deeper. And that upsets me. I need plot and emotion and a storyline, and that is something that this story definitely gave me. This was obviously a story about two men in love, but what impressed me was that (and bear with me here) it didn't have to be. It could have been two women or a man and a women - the main point was that you encompassed some raw human emotions and focused on a real life problem that surrounded two people in love, regardless of their sexes, and I like that. I think that's what more stories need, to be honest. I especially loved the bit where Charlie noticed Draco chewing the inside of his cheek as he concentrated because that demonstrates exactly my point. Charlie noticing those little idiosynchrasies (sp? :P) and loving Draco maybe just a little bit more because of it just makes me so happy because that's something that feels real. This was really just lovely, and I'm glad I chose this one to read ;),

Also: "Draco doesn't look up from his potion. "I'm almost done," he informs the older man. Charlie knows better than to interrupt Draco when he says those words. So, Charlie just watches him instead. Draco has a habit of biting the inside of his cheek when he concentrates solely on one thing. "And done," he says after a few minutes of silence."

It's so simple, but it says /so/ incredibly much about what stage their relationship is. They /understand/ each other, and they /function/ together, and they just work. So much just doesn't even have to be said, and I absolutely adore that. So freaking much.

And Draco needs Zoe to get that through his thick skull, doesn't he?
