Captiosus chapter 38 . 9/16 Enjoyed the re-read through of it, which leads me to the question that all writers get at least once per chapter: Whens the next update? |

The Reaper of Valhalla chapter 38 . 7/30 Updated February 10th, 2014. Well that is certainly longer than a month but its been a beautifully well done story and it’s a shame that it wasn’t finished. I doubt the author is reading this but for any reviewer looking at this and hoping for a good story... you found one. |

H.G.Wells chapter 38 . 3/6/2017 I really hope you continue this! I've been enjoying every moment! It's always good to see isolated oases of compassion in the 40k 'verse, and this fic certainly delivers there. The moving concept of redemption even for a member of arguably the most vicious of all the traitor legions is very well executed in your writing and characterisation. Morgan's journey and motivations are as interesting as that of any individual space marine character I've read. I also love how he has strong female characters - from the eldar farseer who helps him see the light to Sara and Janey - who serve as his companions and guides. Kat and Astrid also have much potential if you ever come back to this. And your portrayal of the 40k universe, with all its terrors, is very well thought out - especially in terms of how you guide this little family of good guys through its worst darkness. The powers of Chaos are suitably terrifying in this story - especially in the Plett arc. That circle of carefree aristogirls turning out to be unknowing participants in one of Slaanesh's cults/orgies, and the sacrifice and summoning in the middle of that whorehouse is probably the creepiest thing I have ever read on fanfiction. Only Gamerjay's portrayal of the Slaaneshi forces in Star Fox 40,000 comes close. The Tyranids and the impact of their invasions were also as frightening as I would expect of that species. Glad you included them. I honestly have few complaints about the narrative style, other than extremely long paragraphs here and there. Throughout my reading of this story, however one question has been burning on my mind above all others. Is there any chance that Morgan and the girls would end up fighting alongside the more civilised Xenos races? We're already seen them fight together with various forces of the Imperium, but there are non-human forces of order too. After all, it was the Eldar who set Sedreth on his mission of redemption, and you've dropped mentions of them here and there (not to mention the skirmish with the Dark Eldar). It would be interesting if Morgan co-operated with or assisted the craftworlds prior to meeting Sara and Janey - or if this would happen with the girls in tow. It's interesting that Morgan hasn't mentioned the Eldar when talking to the girls about his redemption. Since he's not a fan of the current version of the Imperium and the Imperial cult, I wonder if he's averse to its xenophobic aspect as well. It would be interesting revelation for the girls that not all Xenos are evil. Eldrad Ulthan did try to warn Fulgrim of the heresy, after all. While that Farseer said she would not meet Morgan again, it would be interesting to see what further role the still uncorrupted parts of her race would play. Then there's the Tau, of course - if the Eyes of the Phoenix ever comes to their little corner of the galaxy. You have mentioned the eastern regions and the Damocles gulf - I wonder if Sedreth also wishes to assist any Xenos who stand against disorder, as well as humans. The Tau still don't have as much experience with the Chaos powers by comparison. All in all, this fic still has much potential. Do PM me some time if you'd like to chat! Nice work! -Wells |
