Maybe some people studying the Xerxesian ruins have figured out that they can open some underground vault or something if Xerxesian blood (a small amount) is shed onto an array or something and get desperate to find someone of Xerxesian ancestry to help (surely someone survived to pass on the bloodline. Ed and Al are the children of Hohenhiem, the last Xerxesian known in canon. And Ed takes after his father so his looks are pretty much purely Xerxesian, something the researchers would study. And they're desperate and enthusiastic enough to just take Ed rather than ask. Their fellow researchers are not happy. And maybe Ed and Al know their bilingual and only practice the language that their father taught Ed and Trisha (who taught Al) because their mother loved it and several of their father's books were written in (Hohenheim didn't need a code since there was no one left who spoke his native tongue) so they are both a boon to the researchers. |
