Good chapter! It has always irritated me that Alexis compared her two month relationship with C&B;'s five year relationship. I am in the camp of "can't stand Alexis" right now, but agree that Castle has made mistakes too. This chapter does a good job of dissecting those issues.

I don't often read stories that are non caskett-centric but this sucked me in :)

Ironically or maybe astutely on your part, I imagine Kate being exactly this kind of person. Reaching out to Alexis with wisdom, non judgemental frankness and acceptance. Love this story.

I think this is a great follow up to the episode. I had a daughter & Kate was a teenager once so we all know what this is in Alexis. She is spreading her wings & she is punishing her father & Beckett. But Beckett is right, give her time, space & respect her choices for now & it will all work out. Glad Rick has Kate cuz she can help him with this by being the voice of reason & calm.

Loved all three parts of this...
I love seeing Kate finding her place in the family. I love the idea of Castle being happy to have Kate to lean on. "His" family has always been a little bit separated from their relationship, and really love seeing it all come together.

Took me a while to get to this... I'm glad I finally did! I love it. That scene and the whole Alexis/PI against the world thing really had me worried. Like Castle, I didn't like seeing them at odds - especially being used to seeing them so close. You've explained Alexis' fears and likely her motivation in such a great way. Using Kate as the "interpreter" made it all the more great. Well done.
