Ziven chapter 1 . 11/23/2013
Oh, this story made my heart ache. I'm wiping away tears.

This was so well planned out, and I love the characterizations best of all. The pacing, the plot elements - they all seem perfect. This was a tried and true *story*, from beginning to end. My god, this was great. Can I print out a copy? I'm going to print out a copy.

I'm afraid I can't fangirl over this the way I want, as I'm reviewing from my phone, but I hope you can tell how in love I am with this. Good luck in the contest!
reminiscent-afterthought chapter 1 . 11/20/2013
This story was beautiful, rather like a sad bed-time story. In fact, the way you wrote it reminded me of the Hobbit in that sense, because the writing style seemed somehow more direct and story-tellish compared to your other fics. Something that makes it more suitable for telling aloud than reading of a screen. Anzu's character was gorgeous in here as well: you brought out her strength so firmly, and yet at the same time that part of her that rarely duelled and rather stood on the sidelines. And I think it's lovely that, at the end, it is she who is the hero and Yugi looking out to the desert wind reminiscing about him. It reminds me of where the dub stopped...well, dubbing GX. :D My only two quirks with this was 1) a couple of spelling errors (something I almost never see for the five years or so I've been reading your fics) and 2) even with over 13k words, it seemed to me you had to cut a little out. Unavoidable with the time limit - but as a thought I wonder if the beginning scenes could have been fleshed out and made their own chapters. The passing of time was a little obscure between some of those scenes. But apart from that, beautiful work, and best of luck in the contest.
