Nimloth chapter 22 . 8/31 Yay, a new chapter! I see Acherai is delving deep into the Taint, if he's not careful he may well end up becoming like his father...Though so far I like the bloodthirsty Elf and his sharp mind. LOL, Imoen is a true rascal! Having people ogle her big sister in exchange for cookies is so like her...And Jaheira is right, Immy in a way is worse then Sarevok: he merely tried to have Sephiria killed, after all, but never attempted at her dignity like that. I am curious, which god does Tamoko serve? In-game it was never mentioned...Is it a Kara-Turan deity? By the way, I agree with Tamoko about Sarevok: I think he's not completely to blame for the "monster" he's become, considering his horrible childhood and his Bhaal-blood. Then again, I am a great fan of Sarevok, so I guess I'm biased :-) I like that you gave Shar-Teel a line that was originally Nalia's, switching Angelo with Isaea Roenall. Nice chapter! |
NoNameAvailable Bis chapter 22 . 8/31 Ahah, back in business, I see! That was a good chapter to get things rolling again, and it seems the path of both groups might cross sooner rather than later. It is pretty interesting to see each side plotting, and trying to anticipate how those plans might collide - though given that Imoen is the only one to infiltrate the Iron Throne on Sephiria's side is Imoen, who never met Acherai & co, they might remain unaware of each others for the time being even if they bump into each other - at least Acherai provided the thief with a suitable enough distraction do her thing? And as always, inter-party banter is a delight to see, from Coran well-justified doubts about his current company (maybe he'll get to exchange notes with Sephiria when all is said and done) to Xan's relentless gloom and doom in the face of... well, anything really. And Imoen being Imoen (though if a sequel is ever written, I wince at what'll happen to that). Nonetheless, great job as always! |
Maelric chapter 22 . 8/30 The story and the writing are fantastic! Great work, I'm glad that you're still writing it |
Dasgun chapter 21 . 6/11 Goods |
Guest chapter 21 . 9/16/2017 great story! |
Nimloth chapter 21 . 9/15/2017 Hello, nice to see a new chapter! I loved it, especially Minsc's contribution: you portrayed him perfectly. And Edwin screaming like a young female child was priceless! Nice work! :-) |
DezoPenguin chapter 21 . 9/14/2017 You really are improving your craft at describing multi-party combat scenarios, as I noted earlier in reviewing "Old Blood." These two fights are both quite good, as they deal with multiple parties, shifting perspectives, and "the fog of war," while not breaking down into endless sets of "A fights B; C fights D; E fights F; everybody magically finishes their fight simultaneously." The action itself isn't quite so cinematic as your usual work (which is to say, I can imagine the scene acted by human beings assisted by CG), but that has a lot to do, I think, with the more "grounded" source material as well as the lighter narrative tone (with the darkest parts-Kristin and Slythe, for example-being heavily into black comedy instead of true darkness. I wonder why Seffie feels the touch of Bhaal more strongly than Acherai, given that the latter is more enthusiastic about engaging in actual murder. I suppose it could be the whole "paladin" thing, but Acherai seems like the kind of person who'd be equally affronted at random homicidal impulses, just more on the "loss of control of myself is intolerable" side instead of "murder is bad." Hmm... (Seffie's thoughts about Imoen are intriguing, and how creeped she gets at Immy doing the whole backstab. Neckstab. Some kind of sneaky-stabby thing. It almost feels like you're going somewhere with that, apart from just making Sephiria upset. Preliminary hint at her origins, maybe?) (That said, Acherai's party is vastly more entertaining than Seffie's. Minsc, Boo, and Immy are really carrying that group. I think it's because the tone of the fic is very much EXTRA SERVING OF LARGE HAM! (and how could it not be, with the Baldur's Gate cast?), and the lower-key ones don't fit as well. Which may explain why BGII killed off two of them off-camera.) |
NoNameAvailable Bis chapter 21 . 9/14/2017 Ahah, an update! Most excellent. Well, things had been... appropriately chaotic there. Fights, fights everywhere. One can feel the finale coming close (part of me hope that we'll get a BG2 sequel, but I know that after...four years? Wow, it's been four years; well. Many would be reluctant to jump right back into writing - and it's not like you don't have other ongoing stories) Favourite bits of this chapter: Skie saving the day through sheer clumsiness (and her instinctively stabbing Edwin without even pausing was pretty fun too; I suppose that's a proper reaction upon meeting the man), Edwin being Edwin, and in more somber tone, Sephiria realizing her innocent little sister isn't so innocent anymore. Anyway, a very enjoyable chapter, as usual. And i admit I'm pretty intrigued to discover what fate you have in store for Tamoko this time around. Keep up the good work! |
MalumAnima chapter 21 . 9/13/2017 This story needs more reviews! Its easily one of my favorites and I am sooooo happy to see it updated! |
Mingyu chapter 20 . 2/18/2017 Heh. Not going so well for Acherai's group right now, I guess. At least Sephiria and crew looked to be winning at the end there. Still, there could be a change in fortune for either side. Thanks for the chapter! |
MalumAnima chapter 20 . 2/17/2017 This is just a terrible day for everyone isn't it? Also hilarious. |
George Oswald Dannyson chapter 19 . 12/6/2016 Reading this made my day. |
NoNameAvailable Bis chapter 19 . 12/6/2016 Huh oh, slight miscalculation from Acherai. Who would have thought that killing Eldoth, of all people, would have consequences? Well, time to test those crossbow-dodging skills. Or see if he had Protection Against Arrows up this day. Actually, the other group might have to test their own arrow-dodging exercises, if the guys who killed Angelo decides that when there's enough for one, eight more don't change much. Still, I think that the segment I found the most interesting was Tamoko's, giving us good insight of her character, and of Sarevok's. Seeing how Bhaal's heritage is progressively affecting Sarevok, and how those around him are perceiving it is rather intriguing. |
Mingyu chapter 19 . 12/5/2016 Nobody ever expects their prisoner to catch an arrow with his neck! Dunno why. Wow, I didn't realize the climax was this close! Wonder how Acherai will deal with that going mad thing... Thanks for the chapter! |
Guest chapter 19 . 12/5/2016 Haha! Great ending for this chapter, Imoen is amazing. Also I love how your able to add so much humor in this rather dark and frankly horrifying world. They assassins though... *shivers* |
