Reviews for Age of the Amazons
Paricutirimicuaro chapter 1 . 10/12/2014
nice and sweet!
Ganheim chapter 1 . 7/23/2010
Mousse's expression drooped at her indifference, and he scowled hostilely at Ryoga before turning back into the kitchen.

[I understand the convention of Mousse disliking Ranma, but why is he instead glaring at Ryouga? If he’s got his glasses on he should see, and if not then we have no clue and he might just as easily glare at the cash register]

"As if I carried money around ," Ryoga retorted.

[Um…Ryouga would kind of HAVE to carry money around. It’s not like he can just whip out a credit card when he stops at a farmer’s market in Kouchi-ken]

fault but you're own

[your]

Sixteen is child!

[I don’t see how Shampoo couldn’t have known, she worked at Tofu’s for a while and had ample access to the information about average Japanese lifespan, and would very likely have come to hear about Ranma’s age. Ranma’s age was even directly discussed several times (if generally by Genma and Soun and wondering why “the kids weren’t hitting it off”)]

"You know, technically you're not even legal to marry in Japanese society,"

[Incorrect: the legal age in Japan (unless something changed recently that I haven’t heard of) is 15. Ranma’s plenty old enough to be married by now, and engagements can go back further than legal marriageable age (though I think a few of the ceremonies have to be held off) – it’s an extension of the tradition of arranged marriages. The only point of “not legal” that I’m unsure of is if it’s forbidden by amazon law]

since Ranma and Shampoo were both legal minors at the time she defeated him in combat,

[You mean ‘he defeated her’?]

Cologne sent him smashing through the ceiling and into the sky.

[OOC: Cologne smashes him through the door, maybe window, but she doesn’t cause massive property damage. Akane, on the other hand, has smashed him through ceilings. And floors, and load-bearing walls…]

I did not tell you the truth about Ranma because you seemed so devoted to him, but now I think that may have been a mistake. "

[This lack of foresight is not characteristic to Cologne]

"Shampoo, you're crying!"

[How’s he know? If he puts on glasses so he can actually take in his surroundings, I think telling your audience this fact would be helpful]

This is our great-granddaughter, hey?" he chirped. "She's got your looks!"

This time, Shampoo's scream did knock the restaurant's doors out of the frame; it also broke three glasses, two plates, and one of the lenses in Mousse's glasses.

[Points 1]

I’ve actually seen a similar theme expressed before (none to this extent), but the brevity helps overcome most serious objection. Funny, with a hint of interesting dramatic potential.
Tadano Ian chapter 1 . 12/16/2006
Now why didn't I think of that. Very original.
ellminster chapter 1 . 9/23/2003
good but with one drawback. :(

shampoo is 16.

but that doesn't matter, this fic rocks!
libhranan chapter 1 . 12/29/2002
oh... my...

one of the funniest and most original ranma fics i've read...

wow...

great work!
the illest fairy chapter 1 . 10/8/2002
That was beautiful, man. I think Japan actually has a lower age of consent than the United States, though.
Sterling-Ag chapter 1 . 10/1/2002
Not a bad story idea. I think it would be interesting to see what you did with it. If you decide to continue it.
ordnance11 chapter 1 . 10/1/2002
I can see Ku Lon getting a deal with Nodoka...Xian Pu would be Ranma's 2nd wife after the first one dies. She could be his mistress in the internim. That would make whoever marries him first steamed (probably Akane).

If Ranma's age can be slowed down to the same rate as Xian Pu's (ki excercises perhaps) then it is possible for Xian Pu to marry Ranma.
Raneko chapter 1 . 10/1/2002
Loved it It could go a lot farther maybe even a Ranma Shampoo match up. After all bith are just as mature mentaly.
Raneko chapter 1 . 10/1/2002
It has potential of becoming much more then a mere comedy. And I really like Shampoo and Ranma stories.

This could be very intresting. Amazon children may have a longer childhood while outsiders mature much faster then thier amazon counterparts.

As I said this can become a very good semi-serious

story. If taken a little bit farther.
Vivi chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
Good story! Have a good laugh. Unlike the previous reviewer, I would not recommend you to continue story. The sorty is great the way it is, short and hilarious. If you continue on it, it might ruin the humor of it all. However, I do encourage you to write more stories! _
soyamiso chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
great concept!

"rock-breaking children"...hah!
ordnance11 chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
A very good start!. I hope you continue this story. What's the rest of the fiancess reaction that an OLD woman is going after Ranma? Can ranma be as long lived as Shampoo? There's an idea...make Ranma immortal then wait until everybody either goes past the age of child-bearing (60's or 70's) then invite everybody to the wedding! BWAHAHAHAHA!
Essex chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
Very funny. 3 minor criticisms. 1). You never completed the kettle-boy footnote (although I did get the translation joke). 2). Until recently it was not uncommon to engage Japanese children at a young age. 3). Until very recently (after the series was written) it was perfectly legal for the Japanese to marry at a very young age (12 or 14 if I recall correctly).
Ed Simons chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
An interesting new idea and very nicely written. I loved the Ranma-Ryouga bickering, and their and Shampoo's reactions. This is really going to shake up the Ranmaverse.

Other things that might mess up Shampoo's self image - in the Hot Springs Race Shampoo could not defeat Ukyou (age sixteen) and Shampoo lost badly to Hinako (age about twenty-five).

One small error.

"There is truth to that statement," Cologne admitted. "Since Son-in... since Ranma and

Shampoo were both legal minors at the time she defeated him in combat

Should be "he defeated her"

The introduction of Shampoo's great grandfather was priceless. I look forward to reading more of this.
