In the Arcade version of Duck Hunt (called vs. Duck Hunt), it is possible to shoot the dog, as many of us were want to do back in the day on the NES.

I heard about being able to shoot the dog on an old episode of the Retronauts Gaming Podcast, and was able to find this video on Youtube as a result.

It involves a bonus round in the arcade version. I don't think you can shoot the dog during the normal rounds.

Note: This is from an emulated version of the Arcade game, which is why you see target sights in the video.
