Looks cool and interesting concept, but I'll past.

Guitar Hero was really fun back in the day. It's the reason I started electric guitar. I've since "graduated" to Rocksmith. I've been playing for some years now. I probably won't go back to this but I hope it's as fun for new folks as it was for me.

@Spencer: It isn't, but it's also true that GH with it's endless updates (along with some other clones) killed the PS3 era music genre.
Harmonix created Guitar Hero 1, improved on it with 2 and went on to create Rock Band and it's improved versions (always allowing us to export our music library forward), GH just started puking out versions.

It's sad that Harmonix is, after all these years, trying to bring back this genre only to be IMMEDIATELY copied by the franchise they created, creating a imminent feeling of market exhaustion for fear of the same mistakes before the games are even out.

We'll see how this plays out, but for niche genres like this, quality over quantity applies more so than ever in my opinion.

New Rock Band gets announced, so clearly a ugly new Guitar Hero rears it's head... It's like those The Asylum movies, where as soon as Transformers gets announced, they announce Transmorephers to ride the same wave and take advantage of grannys picking games by brand recognition. SAD SAD

IMO there's nothing more to add to this genre and that was discovered in the last gen. At least GH are trying something new and different, I don't think it'll work in reigniting the genre but at least it's an attempt. Rock Band's trailer gave me a vibe of not only the same old but a scaling back of the same old with the bizarre notion that people will consider labelling something "indie" as positive when it's renowned for expensive, licensed music.

Live is pre-recorded "reaction" stuff that they've been teasing, probably consisting mostly of breakthrough bands. The other mode that'll probably be the majority of play with popular bands will be playing the tracks over the official video of songs.

I still don't understand how this game will work. You just watch pre-recorded videos of actors that vary depending on how well you play?

I want to play with my controller again... Not with a guitar.

I didn't know that competition was inherently bad for consumers

I'm sure there'll be a coke & hookers minigame in there, for you

None of that gives me a rockstar vibe. Like at all. Where the fuck is the aesthetic so prevalent in the rock scene?

this game could have easily fucked the rock scene. Night clubs was already bad enough playing the songs that was in the charts above what got those bands there.

I'm with you. Will there be a different pre-recorded video for every song?

Continually updating? That's pretty awesome.

These have got to be the douchiest most cliche rockstars I've ever seen, right from the beginning with the guy telling the 'identical twin' story to the Trilby hats, hipster tattoos and dodgy facial hair to the ethnic and be-dredded bass player.

As great as the concept is I don't wanna be in THIS band.

I can just imagine Kyle's cringing on Let's Go to the Trailers

If the game would looked like this that would be something ;p
