Three men pleaded not guilty Friday to causing a wildfire that destroyed 50 homes in Malibu, and their lawyers said outside court they were being made scapegoats by an outraged community.

A fast-moving wildfire has destroyed dozens of homes in the hills above Malibu, the scene of last month's devastating fires in California. The latest blaze is said to have spread through the canyons and hills above the resort, forcing 15,000 residents to flee.
