Hurricane Tracking Map Powered by Google

An interesting Hurricane Tracking Map for the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico powered by Google

Comment on this

Interesting. Can't wait to see it in action. Well could wait if that actually meant there would be no hurricane storms this year but since that isn't likely to happen, I'm interested in seeing this at work.

It looks cool, but I could wait a long long time before I see this track anything... I have too much to lose around the Gulf with too many friends and family still recovering.

This will be a very handy tool in the coming months.

Actually, there has been a Google Hurricane Tracking Map -- a much more comprehensive implementation at that -- on the web for some time now. Information can be found here:

(The Atlantic map can be found here: http://stormadvisory.org/map/atlantic )

I was using the thing like crazy to track the paths of Katrina and Wilma when they were heading right for us. It was also cool to compare the storms to other ones which passed through Florida in the past.

The two tools are one and the same :-) I just registered a domain so that it wouldn't be such a hard url to remember. Still working out the details & actively updating.

Oh, whoops... I was assuming the story link was the one you mentioned, Erin. They are definitely not one and the same. hehe...
