Russia proposes Georgia to discuss the peace plan for settling Georgia-Abkhazia conflict prepared by the de facto Abkhazian leader Sergey Baghapsh.

''In case Tbilisi approves the peace plan proposed by the de facto leader, de-escalation of the tension in the region and resolution of the conflict will become feasible,'' the official of the foreign ministry of Russia has told journalists. Russian diplomats are emphasizing the frequent visits of western diplomats to Sokhumi and assert they have realized that it's better to see with their own eyes what's going on in the conflict region than to take information from the third party. ''We of coarse hail such a change of reality,'' foreign ministry official added.

Foreign Ministry authorities have already welcomed the peace plan saying Moscow was supporting separatists. The document in the first place includes demands on withdrawing Georgian military forces from Kodory Valley and non-resumption of combat operations.
