But whatever you want to call it, the ending of the 2017 Academy Awards sparked an uncontrollable social media firestorm after the wrong winner of the top award -- Best Picture -- was announced.

As the Sunday award show was coming to a close, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were presenting the final award. Beatty opened the envelope and looked puzzled before Dunaway took the envelope and read "La La Land" as the Best Picture winner.
The cast and crew of "La La Land" began making their acceptance speeches, but backstage the accountant from PriceWaterhouseCoopers said Beatty mistakenly took the envelope for Best Actress, which Emma Stone from "La La Land" had already won.
After word spread among the "La La Land" cast and crew on stage, Jordan Horowitz, the film's producer, made the announcement that "Moonlight" was actually the winner of Best Picture.
"This is not a joke," he said as he held up the rightful card with "Moonlight" printed on it as the winner.
Beatty then took the mic and explained his flub. But the damage was already done.
In the aftermath, social media exploded with reaction to what is being called the most embarrassing moment in Oscars history. Steve Harvey of course weighed in as well, since the incident has been widely compared to him announcing the wrong Miss Universe winner in December 2015.
