Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reacted Friday to the projected vote total being just enough to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court during Saturday's Senate session.
McConnell (R-Ky.) said on "Ingraham Angle" that he only knew he had enough votes to bring Kavanaugh's nomination to a final vote when the cloture vote roll was called.
"[The other Republicans] were all very guarded about making an announcement," he said, adding that it was "rare" that he called for a vote without being certain the nomination would pass.
"This is a great day for America," McConnell said. "The mob was not able to intimidate the Senate."
He called Sen. Susan Collins' (R-Maine) Friday floor speech describing Kavanaugh's accomplishments and Democrats' obstruction "outstanding."

Ingraham asked McConnell about a vague tweet from former Obama administration official Susan Rice, in which she appeared to threaten to run against Collins in her next reelection bid.

Former Obama White House communications director Jennifer Psaki asked on Twitter who might want to run against Collins in 2020.
"Me," Rice responded. Psaki said any Collins opponent would be "well-funded."
Many thanks for the encourgement. I’m not making any announcements. Like so many Americans, I am deeply disappointed in Senator Collins’ vote for Kavanaugh. Maine and America deserve better. https://t.co/6oGFTFuO1Q

"Senator Collins will be well-funded [too], I can assure you," McConnell said.
Rice later clarified her initial tweet, saying that she was not making a formal announcement, but expressing "deep disappointment" in Collins.
"Maine and America deserve better," Rice said.
