The Top 10 Blogs On The Internet

The title may be misleading, but that won't stop you from reading on will it? Good. Now, since there is no reasonable way to rate all the blogs on the world wide web and then sort them into a top 10 list, I'll just simply give you my top 10 favorites and then you can enlighten me with yours. Sound fair? Then lets get started.

Politics

My personal favorite genre of blog, these types make it easier to track the crazy world of presidential elections, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, and well, you get the point.

The Page

In my opinion there is no better place to get your politics than Time.com. Relatively new to Time's political arsenal, this page has yet to show me any rookie weaknesses. It's anything but Politically biased, and it's updated constantly. The author of the blog, Mark Halperin, has had political experience since before 1997when he became political director at ABC news.

Real Clear Politics

Yet another Time political blog, Real Clear Politics is one of my favorites mostly because of the polls that come along with it. Definitely one of the most reliable of all internet poll places, and it allows you to constantly keep track of the ever changing polls. RCP polls also allow to choose which poll you want to view, including the Wall Street Journal, CNN, USA Today and others. Best of all, it by default shows you the average of all of them.

The Ag

This is the final Time blog, I promise. The Ag (short for aggregator) isa blog compiled of editor picked news stories that is promised (not always kept) to be ready by 7:00 in the morning. This is great for me with my usual last minute news check before I head off to school which is conveniently right around the time it's updated. If you are a fan of all the major newspapers but don't want to check each one every morning then this will do wonders to save time as it typically has something from many of those papers every morning.

Little Green Footballs

If you've been on Newsvine long enough, you know it's probably no secret I'm a conservative; and Little Green Footballs is a conservatives dream blog. Originally a blog about bicycle racing, after 9/11 the owner transformed the blog into a site for the discussion of the War On Terror and it has since been very controversial and very right wing. In stride, I take everything I see there with a grain of salt.

Instapundit

Instapundit is one of the most read political blogs out there, and for good reason. Often called an extremely conservative blog, I beg to differ. The site often takes up agreements with the war on terror but is anything but extreme about it. A 2007 memo from the National Republican Senatorial Committee described the blog as one of the five best-read national conservative bloggers.

Technology

Who doesn't love nerdy stuff?

Lifehacker

If you haven't heard of Lifehacker before, I should stab you multiple times and let you bleed to death in front of me. The site tag line, Tips and Downloads for Getting Things Done is the perfect description for the site. Just recently when I payed a visit I was greeted by his little article, First Look at Firefox 3. This a prime example of what the site offers, and like most blogs, it is constantly updated. I've had endless hours of my computer life that I owe to this time saving site.

Gizmodo

Ah, Gizmodo. Properly dubbed The Gadget Guide because that's what it is. It has everything from lawn care to game systems, computers, cell phones, and everything in between. I've learned all kinds of stuff about different gadgets I have bought, decided to buy because of Gizmodo, and things I decided not to buy because of Gizmodo. No wonder it's one of the most visited blogs on the web.

Download Squad

Download Squad has the same principles as Lifehacker, but it focuses on downloads and pretty much downloads only. Some of the Firefox users will really love this site, mostly because this site is aimed towards us.

Read/WriteWeb

So, we have the downloads to make life easier, but where do you go to get the analysis on these downloads? Here, on Read/WriteWeb. I have visited the site on countless occasions if I want to know what will be on the next version of different downloads, and to know if the download is any good.

Life

Because we all have one.

Dumb Little Man

Aren't we really just dumb little men/women? And it only gets easier when you have other dumb little people telling you tips to life. Which basically what Dumb Little Man is all about. They give you tips an articles that tell you different ways to make life easier, keep you sane and most of all - help save you money.

That's it.In case it wasn't obvious I'm a big Time kind of guy, and visit the site every day. Feel free to tell me your take on my favorite web logs, and tell me some of your favorite blogs too.

My favorites, the Drudge Report which is run by news pundit Matt Drudge who happens to have all of tomorrows news today and always up to the minute breaking news before the corporate news media even knows about it., Digg, Newsvine, Macworld, Mac Life.

Informed Comment - Juan Cole cuts through the bull and deals in reality.

Talking Points Memo for unrivalled American political coverage. Don't always agree with Josh Marshall's viewpoint, (a bit conservative for me at times), but he sure knows how to dig the dirt. Just ask the former Attorney General.

Atrios sez it all.

Iraq Blog - Iraq through the eyes of someone who lives there.

Milblogging is dead. There used to be a lot more milblogs, most are gone now, shut down by Our Fearless Leaders.
