Information for Transferring your domain record/registration away:

Important Information

Please review the following information carefully.
  • This process applies only on .com, .net, .org, .biz, .us, .info domains.
  • Transferring your Domain Registration may take up to 10 days.
  • Once a transfer is started you cannot make any changes to the whois information. No contact changes. No name servers/dns changes.
  • There is a waiting period for recently created (60 days) or renewed (45 days) domains. This means that if you choose to transfer the registration within that waiting period, you will lose the year you just paid for. If this waiting period applies to your situation, we recommend you wait to transfer the domain until it is completed.
  • This will ONLY transfer your domain registration, it will not move your website files, emails, or databases.

Transfering Away From Just Host

  1. Log into your Just Host Control Panel.
  2. Click the Domain Manager tab.
  3. Click the Domain name to highlight it. The right side will populate with tabs.
  4. Unlock the domain on the LOCK tab.
  5. Turn off privacy on the PRIVACY tab.
  6. Modify the name servers to point to the new name servers (OPTIONAL) in the NAME SERVERS tab.
Note: Do not do this unless you are ready for ALL services to point to the new server.
  7. Get the EPP/Authorization Code from the TRANSFER EPP tab. (You give this to the new Hosting Company).
  8. Make certain the contact info is up to date with the correct email address on the CONTACTS TAB , for Registrant, Admin, and Billing. The Admin contact gets the email about the transfer.
  9. You will receive an email with an Auth code and a link. Follow the instructions in the email. Our system approves transfers quickly.
  10. You can approve the transfer once its all started properly. In the DOMAIN MANAGER, click the domain you are transferring to highlight it. Click the TRANSFER EPP tab and you will have two links IF it was started properly. One to approve and one to deny the transfer. If those links are not there, then the other company most likely did not send the transfer request to your email address and it went to the privacy address.

Transferring a .uk Domain Name

.uk domains are unique and require that we change the IPS tag as authorization to transfer.

This process can take up to 3 days. Please make sure your contact information is complete, including a Registrant email address. In addition, we recommend that you make name servers/dns changes PRIOR to transferring the domain.

To transfer your .uk domain, please do the following:

  1. Contact your new registrar and find out what IPS tag they use.
  2. Submit at ticket and request that we change the IPS tag and prepare the domain for transfer. This process is usually completed within 24 hours.
  3. Contact your new registrar and request them to transfer the domain record to their service.

Please remember

  • Once a transfer is started you cannot make any changes to the whois information. No contact changes. No name servers/dns changes.
  • You must contact the Gaining Registrar to finalize your transfer.
  • This will ONLY transfer your domain registration, it will not move your website files, emails, or databases.
