Illegal Alien schools! Illegal alien clinics! Lines to send money "home". The millions of unemployed Americans looking for something to do should grab shovels, dig a trench and shove New Orleans into the Mississippi River. The illegal alien invaiders can paddle it "home".

here we go again. the "mexicans" are taking over, again, and the govt. is  not doing a "damn" thing about it.  there were no mention of "illegal immigration" on the campaign trail by the "monkeys" trying t for the white house, which will be "la casa" within 30 years!!! so long, america>

Its good to see the illegal slave lab.... er illegal day laborers helping out the US by providing rediculously cheap labor, paying no taxes and sucking tax payers money by sending their kids to school, using the hospital emergency rooms and flat out getting arrested for committing crimes to make ends meet.  Ah Latmerica!  What a country!

This just makes me sick. All these illegals over here getting Government help. I think the Doctor who is helping them should be arrested.  Also every time an illegal sends money home it takes away from the value of the dollar. They do not pay taxes on that money and then send it home. Why are our local police departments not arresting these illegals? They are breaking the law by being here. I was involved in a car accident a couple of months ago. It was not my fault. The illegal hit me. When the police arrived he had no insurance or a drivers license. The police let him leave. He did get a ticket, but come on. That illegal is not going to pay for it. I am stuck paying my deductible not to mention my insurance probably will go up. We better get a grip on this situation. I don't care what those illegal groups say. These illegals have NO RIGHTS here. We are the ones with the rights.

I hate to say it, but it seems to me that people are ignoring some incredible facts about New Orleans:

I have a dear friend from D.F. (Distrito Federal a/k/a Mexican Capital) and he is here illegally.  He is an incredibly hard-working man.  Works two jobs so that he can send money to his wife and two girls in Mexico.  We ride the bus together in the afternoons.  I have never met a more decent man in my life.  When I asked him what he had asked for Christmas, he said:  "Nothing, you know, I wish I could see my wife and two girls (they're named Maria de Los Angeles and Yesica) but I know I need to stay here and work hard so that we can have a better life.  You know [us] parents--we always want better for our kids than we ourselves had."

So don't tell me that Mexican illegals are taking the jobs away.  It's that the jobs that are available are not jobs that unemployed Americans want to do anyway.

And get serious on the war on drugs. This alone would put 1 million people to work.

As the economy continues to tank and the immigrants keep coming, having tons of kids and sucking the American tax payer dry, the real hard-working American citizens are going to get more and more angry. If politicians don't open their eyes and put a stop to this, bad things are going to start happening. We are already seeing this in some of the cities where people are committing crimes against hispanics/latinos/mexicans or whatever they call themselves. I am not condoning this, it's just the way things are going and it is going to get a lot worse.

Allow me to rephrase that.  ILLEGAL aliens are reshaping Louisiana.  We have the highest unemployment rate among our own citizen that  we have had in a long long time.  So they hire illegals to do the work, because the illegals dont need to charge as much, they dont have things like insurance and bonding, for their businesses homes or cars, and they dont pay income taxes on their earnings either.  Not to mention that a good deal of them send the money back to Mexico to their families.  This means almost none of the money is going back into our economy, and our fellow Americans are jobless.  All of this so a small handful, maybe even only a couple people, can make exponentially more money than they will need while the rest of us are suffering?  Capitalism is a great system, no doubt, but it needs to be fair and regulated, it wasn't so much the ideas behind communism that brought it down either, it was mostly the corruption.  They will take all of these layoffs and never give the jobs back when things get good, and rehire overseas after the economy recovers and still raise their prices despite a much much cheaper labor supply, just like the normal practice since NAFTA and the Free Trade Agreement came to be.  If they will not let us have control of our country, as guaranteed by our Constitution and the sacrifices and suffering and perserverance and victory of our forefathers and ancestors, then there remains only one solution, and it is one that George Washington among many many others was proud to do.

It's just a matter of time before we get fed up with these people, and it needs to be soon!!  My grandfathers who served in WWII would have kicked these illegals in their asses a long time ago but we've all turned into a bunch of sissy liberals who think they need rights and free healthcare, etc.  Do you want to know the MOST annoying part?  As a healthcare provider who went to  7 years of college, often the uneducated spanish interpreters make more $$ per patient than I do.  And why?  Because they are one of the few hispanics that actually learn the language.  You should see how many hispanics think that I should learn their language so that I can provide them with better healthcare.

What an ideal target for the INS!  Sweep em up and out while you have them in one place.  We seem to be missing the boat again before it pulls away from the pier.  More taxpayer dollars to illegals to obtain cheap labor to rebuild something built in a hole.  Amazing! 

When will AP learn that these illegal aliens are NOT immigrants, they are parasites on the economy and social services of this country.  Their employers do not contribute to the tax base in New Orleans, as they pay them under the table and they certainly do not pay into the federal tax system.  They believe that they are "entitled" to free medical care for the "anchor babies".  No politician wants to admit that illegal aliens have contributed heavily to the economic situation in this country.  Many bought homes using tax ID numbers and took advantage of subprime loans and now we are to bail them out????  You cannot have over 30 million illegal aliens in this country without an impact.

Who's going to support those 30 to 40 babies born A MONTH to illegals by this one Doctor alone. We are because while they send their money home they support themselves here by leaching off our already stretched thin social services. And why aren't the "displaced persons" sitting on their lazy " when are you gonna build me a house" arses doing this work they claim to want ! The people of Mississippi rolled up their sleeves and got to work ! I've visited from New York, made friends in and love New Orleans , but an armed services friend of mine who was sent down there BEFORE Katrina to assist said the mutts were looting before the rains even came. They didn't evacuate , not because they couldn't , but because they knew they had free raine to pillage while the place was emptying. They didn't expect the devastation that came.WAKE UP PEOPLE , AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE HELLS HAPPENING !

The auto workers make $28.00 an hour.  They have another $50.00 in benefits per hour.  Illegal aliens make $6-10 an hour.  They get food stamps, subsidised housing, free medical care, pay no income tax, and draw welfare checks.  They carry no insurance on their automobiles or their life.  They have no retirement plans.  All those costs are picked up by the Americans in their town.  So, tell me, what are their benefits worth.  I'll bet if you add it up, it's well over $60.00 per person.  So, doesn't that make them on a scale with the auto workers?

I could work for $10.00 an hour if I didn't have to pay taxes, insurance or retirement and live just like I am living now. 

Everyone needs to keep a close eye on the Senate and the Congress, they will try to shove another "amnesty" bill down our throats in this new administration.  So carefully watch the bills that are beng proposed.  Placement of individuals "sympathetic" to finding an immigration reform solution to make all of these illegals citizens are being place as Secretary of Homeland Security, Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Labor.  So stand by the flood gates will be opened.  The only immigration law reform we need is to do away with "anchor babies" and make US citizenship harder to achieve then just being born here to illegal aliens who truly do not value this country.  It is a slap in the face to individuals who have traveled the long process of legally immigrating into this country.  Why should illegal aliens be given a free ride into citizenship.  3 million were given amnesty in 1986 and less then 20% have bothered to become citizens.

My nineteen year old brother has been looking for a job in fast food for two months now! Do you know why he cant get a job at McDonalds? Because hes not hispanic (were black/white) we look hispanic, but as soon as he opens his mouth and the Mexican/Ecuadorian/Hondurian Shift Manager realizes hes a US National, game over. Now I am sue if some of you on here saw him you would assume  hes another minority that dosent want to work, but thats simply not true. Low wage jobs are almost impossible to get because of the influx of hispanics, they dont demand proper wages,lunch breaks, health insurance......so because US Citizens expect our employers to treat us correctly, we suffer.....and Americans come in many different colors, everyone is suffering because of this, African Americans, who allready have to try twice as hard to get a job, are being imposed on by illegals as well, I get sick of the welfare comments on this board, and the illusion that many of you have that all African American women do is sit at home, have babies, and collect welfare and food stamps, this couldnt be farther from the truth. The truth of the matter is, and what the media dosent want white people to see, is that most black people get up and go to work EVERYDAY,  most single moms, two parent families....ect. Remember if the jobs were not there the illegals would not be there.  Go after the companies that are using these guys!  54% of the construction workers are illegal is what the article stated.  Should be pretty easy to show up at a work site, not just to catch the illegals, but to bust the b*lls of the companies who hire them.

How long will the Associated Press be permitted to serve as publicists that support illegal alien work thieves' presence in our country by consistently presenting them as victims? These people are criminals. It they could not turn every anchor baby into an entitlement check and steal work at the same time, they would not be here.

Over 3 years ago this hurricane hit New Orleans.  The locals either fled before the storm or once rescued they fled after the storm.  Massive mess to clean up.  The hispanics came in and did the work, while the locals that ran away demanded support during this difficult period in their life.  And everyone is mad at the hispanics?

Congress needs to get off their rear and do something about this.  A wall needs to be built and guarded by the military.  These people who are here are criminals because they are not legal.  I you or I commit a crime, we are punished.  What is being done here?  Nothing.

Lots of hate in the room.... the xenophobes are out in force.   Must be some fear is creeping in as the implications of our economic situation sinks in. You all did a pretty good job of hitting both immigrants and those horrible welfare recipients who are taking all our hard earned money, didn't you?  

I would love to be able to do a count of how many of the people posting about how these folks are taking all our jobs actually do the blue collar, physical labor type jobs in question.  I did my years of this type of work, and in those days, the only thing on my mind at the end of the day was a good meal and a warm bed.   Come to think of it, it is awfully easy for folks to criticize immigrants on forums like this, given the fact that most immigrants probably don't have the literacy level needed to defend themselves.

Or perhaps folks are looking ahead at how bad the economy might get, and are proactively hammering the competion, since  some of us might have to actually go back to hard physical labor for subsistence again?

Per the violence.... the area has always had a high crime rate, even before Katrina.   The immigrants didn't bring it.

Regardless, the writing is on the wall.   Whether we like it or not, caucasians will soon be a minority given current demographic trends.   We won't be able to scapegoat much longer. Far wiser to educate ourselves out of competition with this type of work and let others  do some of our physical labor for us and provide them opportunities to better themselves, than to whine about how tough life is for us because they are willing to move to places we won't go, to do work we won't do, at a wage we won't work because sending money to their loved ones is more important than a 42 inch flat screen TV.

The fact that the Govt, for whatever reason won't do anything about this gives more credibility to the whole conspicacy theory about forming a North American Union with Canada and Little America to the South.

Angie, if you could read, you would have realized that I said my BROTHER who is nineteen, and has grill cooked at some of the FINEST restaurants in the US Virgin Islands (oh, thats a US territory, in case your ignorant self didnt know) who should have no problem grabbing a job flipping burgers, but cant get one because latinos get into management, and then wont hire anyone but their own kind. I live in Baton Rouge and love New Orleans.  It is not just New Orleans that hispanics are flocking to, it is all of southern LA.  My neighborhood had about 3 or 4 hispanic families pre-katrina, now it is about 70% hispanic.  Many I'm sure are illegal.  Why doesn't our government do something about these illegal immigrants.  Every small town between Mississippi and Texas have a growing population of hispanics. 

Just another place for IILEGALS to be dropped off at,,,,,,another slum for the area, and the NEXT hurricane!

Many of us have documented what happens when an illegal gets in an accident....nothing, and we end up paying our own deductible.

Same scenario except the car that hits my wife and I contain illegal aliens from Iran with names like Hussein Amajedidine, does the cop let them go with a ticket????  I didn't think so, please expalin to me what the difference is because I'm too stupid or disgusted to get it!

What REALLY cracks me up is that people like Dick , excuse me , Richard Lambert and Angie B will protest the opening of a Walmart to no end saying they cost small buisness owners, but sit back and call every one else names if they post common sence about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS destroying America and our economy. These people are not "imigrants" they are illegals and the people who hire them are breaking the law.  In Norcross GA, they are over run with illegals and the streets look like Tijwania not America.  You are afraid to go out at night, they ruin the home values by tearing up screens, doors, and not keeping up where they are living.  They live 3-5 families to a three bedroom home.  This is not good for America.  Immigrants are always welcome, they want to be Americans.  These people have babies to claim a tie to our system.  They get ADC and if you have enough kids and parents all living in the same house it makes it affordable to eat on the rest of us.  They don't put in businesses to trade with us, they change the landscape to look like the nations they were running from.  Why don't they fix their own nation instead of coming here illegally?  It is a shame that the news would call them "immigrants" they are illegals and should be shipped off, and their children should not be citizens.  If you come here illegally your child is not legal... period....

ok I KNOW it's CHRISTmas Eve and all but I have to put in my 2 cents worth.  Anybody have a family member  (or perhaps just themselvef ) who got deathly ill a couple of years ago from eating strawberries that were picked by illegals in the Ca strawberry fields?  Or perhaps they got sick after running a knife thru a canteloupe picked by an illegal that had just urinated in the field?  We recently ( in AZ ) had a Taco Bell almost completely go out of business because the staff did not speak English and they were just plain filthy.  The KFC food that had been placed on the buffet "platters" looked and smelled like garbage.  Countless letters sent to the owner did nothing to change it so those countless letters were sent to the health dept.

I have NOTHING against immigration.  I have a whole lot against illegal immigration.  If you want to come here and assimilate into the American way of life learn to speak the language ( on your own dime tyvm ) get a job and stay off of welfare.  The only reason these people are willing to work for $2 an hour is because they can't get hired anywhere else.  They only want cash jobs so that they don't have to pay taxes like the rest of us.  Those that do pay taxes claim 10 kids as dependents and send all the $ back home, disappear and come back over with new names and new green cards.  The people that are hiring illegals  ought to prosecuted as well.  Those jobs could be well filled by inmates on a work release programs.  Those guys  are willing to leave their cells and learn the construction trade so that they will have a "profession" when they get out will probably work for far less than $2 an hour.  But then all the illegal trade really is is this; a government sanctioned program!   Just when did we adopt the attitude that this is the only country of conscience?  We need to start looking out for our own!!

No one can deny how hard working "undocumented workers" are. However that does not mean  that they should be given a pass because of how hard they work. People with petty misdemeanors, petty drug charges, who cant get a job, and dont tell me they cantbecause my second job is at a half way house and these people have the hardest time finding jobs, I see them every day go out, pound the pavement and come back discouraged. Thats rehabilitation in America. Do your time, and do more when you are released. Have no source of income - and then be expected to stay out of trouble....We have got to fix our people before we add on to our own burden of having to provide for illegals as well.

I really try not to be racist or prejudice about others, but I cannot seem to get over my annoyance with illegal aliens.  Bottom line, it's against the law, and laws are made for a good reason.  Also, I think that Arabic illegals are tracked down more than Hispanics, when they should be tracked down equally.  Again, don't get me wrong.  I love people from all over the world, but I just don't think it's fair that the U.S. is WAY to lenient about letting people into this country.  Personally, I would LOVE to relocate to Italy and try to make a life there, but you just can't do that.  And I have no desire to try to live in hiding once my visa expires, etc. etc.  It's just not that easy for my being a white girl originally from Kentucky to move myself to Tuscany, which IS the ideal place to live. 

So, getting back to this issue, GREAT we are educating our illegal immigrants, but there are still ILLEGAL!  I don't have much more to say and have little to no sympathy for it.

The illegals get the jobs not because the employer wants spanish speaking employess, or not because Americans will not do the jobs, it's because they would have to pay Americans by check and then pay taxes, medicare, workmans comp and have more paperwork to do. What people seems to forget is that employers can not discriminate against people basic on race, EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commision).  Therefore legal americans can not only sue these company for requiring that legal americans speak spanish, but at the same time sue for hiring illegals!!!  This can be done as a class action law suit nationwide.

The Hispanics & Latinos came to New Orleans to take construction jobs at subpar wages,  They took these jobs from locals who could have really used the mone.  Almost all were illegal bt that didn't matter.  These people have stay on more have come.  They should be deported.  Illegal immigration has so swelled this population that it has become politically protected by the Bush Administration & Democrats in Congress.

I live in Yakima, Wa. As I like to call it N. Mexico. Half of our 120,000 people are illegal. This blooms to 180,000 during picking season. My kids are the only english speakers in their class. Every one has 3 SS#s and names. 1 to get a job, 1 to get welfare and free healthcare, and 1 to get unemployment. Are newest state cost cutting measure is to deport non violent criminals. Where they can just turn around and come back up. Half of our sex crimes are from mexicans already deported at least once. Half of our prisoners are illegal. The feds are supposed to pay for them but we are lucky enough to get 10 cents on the dollar. We are 7th place on property crime and auto theft. We are a defacto sanctuary city because both PD and Sheriff refuse to check status because with half of the calls being illegals they have no place to put them. With all these illegals we only have 2 ICE agents. They're busy deporting people who are out of prison after serious crime. Only half those driving have insurance or drivers licenses. Even after a accident they'll let them drive off. I have already had an uninsured driver hit my car and it cost me a $500 deductible. Both of our cars have been broken into twice.

And they don't come empty handed. they bring meth and Heroin. We are a major gate way for drugs for the west. This summer alone they have found 3 vineyards were used to cover the marijuana growing underneath for 500,000 plants.

Latinos are exploding. Someone needs to teach these people birth control. Considering their border line heritage in marginal intellects, I foresee a huge population in New-Orleans that takes away the soul music to replace it with irritating mexican music as they will wipe out the great food replacing it with chicken filled tacos. Not a good trade off. From one minority to another, who really wants to live in New-Orleans?

If anyone does not believe that Mexico is re-conquering the United States, they had better pull their heads out of their a**** and pay attention to what is happening to our country. One doctor alone delivering 30 to 40 babies a month! Can anyone say anchor babies!!!! Who is paying for their health care and deliveries? Our government tax dollars that's who. This is outrageous. They do not believe in birth control and their women began having children in their early teens. The United States is being destroyed and will be unrecognizable in twenty years.

it does not matter anymore if they are "illegals", this country is "lost". the mexicans that are here legally for, say 30 years, and speak english well, went to school, and maybe "assimulated", have one goal in mind. "take back america without firing a shot". i come across a lot of them, and although their thinking is somewhat different, they know that someday, they will run this country. they have large families, and you do that for 20 years, you have a problem. many of them do not care about the "english language". they can get along without it. have you ever tried to gas up your car in a mexican neighborhood? you  have to wait in line, as a result of large families coming of driving age, not  mention the degrading od ther neighborhood. as i said in my previous comment, america will be like a third world country in 30 years.

I read in an MSNBC RSS Feed news story that when the illegal aliens make up a social security number, their employer pays the employment taxes against the ficticious number. Our government ends up with billions of dollars that cannot be matched to a valid number, so they just keep the money.  Why would they want to enforce federal laws on illegal immigrants when they are making that kind of money off of them.

So, yes, we need to fix the politicians first. The corruption is rampant. The aliens are paying the government then we are paying taxes for the aliens to go to school, have baby after baby, be treated at our hospitals, etc. We need to utilize our internet to make our voices heard. We all need to have our government representative's email addresses on our contact list. We need to demand that our immigration laws be enforced.  We ARE being invaded. We WILL be conquerred by baby popping illegal immigrants.  Ask any of them. Their goal is to cross the border and drop children to make them legal citizens.  One particular mexican who was interviewed said of his deportation that all of his family was here, the only reason he keeps getting deported is because his mother couldn't get across the border before he was born. Who ever thought up the rule of automatic citizenship for birth here was completely nuts.
