After many months of collaboration and design, Newsvine Photographers is excited to introduce to its members brand imaging to include in their articles. This imaging is intended to replace the 'This article was produced for foto-friday / weekend-exposure...' disclosure the group guidelines required on all articles published on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Why is it called a brand? This little stick figure drawing means something. It's the culture and promise around what the Photographers community has come to represent.
This absolutely would have not been possible without the cooperation of those attending the virtual-vinemeet and especially not without MalamuteMan, who ultimately did the final design work and had to deal with the whims of a crazed group administrator. Thank you.
Creating and maintaining a brand is a very complex matter. Most brands fail. They demand "courage, money, determination, originality, creativity and an infinite capacity to take pains." One difficulty brand managers face, brands cannot be conjured and have to come from reality; they very much happen organically. The employees [all of you] are the brand. These images were created to start building upon a foundation you built. Let us continue forth.
Instructions
For the imaging to be most effective, it should be at the top of the article. The small square icon is meant to be placed at the bottom and also for articles not posted on Friday or the weekend. Each image should link to the group front page, filtered by the tag. These are the proper links:
http://photographers.newsvine.com/foto-friday
http://photographers.newsvine.com/weekend-exposure
It is important to keep this consistent. Administrators can and do miss things. If you notice a bad or improper link, kindly inform the author. Everyone forgets once in awhile, so let us keep each other in check. It is much appreciated.
Previously published are a few example articles with instructions on how to use the 'brave new editor' to manipulate the brand imaging's placement. Below are links to those articles, with instructions of how to accomplish all three. Example 2 is probably the easiest but it is recommended you experiment with the other two techniques (it's not as hard as you think!)
If you would like to use these images in your articles, send me an email. It is recommended you create a 'Newsvine Photographers' folder on your desktop and download these files there so you always know where they are located.
If you have any problems with any of these layouts or need some further guidance, come to a virtual-vinemeet. If you can't make one of those, send an email to photographers.newsvine.com@gmail.com, letting us know when you'd be available and the admins will do their best to accommodate.
Thanks for bearing with us!
