"Never suggest, ask or demand that passengers remove footwear prior to entering the WTMD [walk-through metal detector]," says the one-page directive, which went into effect immediately.
The one major exception, however, is officers can still order passengers heading for the United States to remove their shoes, consistent with higher air-security standards set by Washington.
I got tired of the silly security process a few years ago (empty your pockets, remove your shoes, unbuckle your belt, etc. etc.) so now I just show up at the airport naked.
It seems to make a few people uncomfortable, but man, do I zip through that security line.
Love that Canadian humour in the comments.
Sadly, the majority probably are traveling to the US and so this will make no difference.
Shoot I thought that everybody would cease the need to remove their shoes... but I guess not. Dang terrorists, even if your plots fail you still terribly inconvenience our lives. It's like a win-win for "Allah".
I wish TSA would follow the Canadians on this.
