![]() Author has written 69 stories for Teen Titans, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Sky High, Heroes, National Treasure, High School Musical, Chronicles of Narnia, Baldur's Gate, X-Men: Evolution, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XII, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hairspray, Star Trek: 2009, and Glee. Welcome. Age: Legal. Sex: Male. Location: Pennsylvania, USA. Interests: Writing (obviously), singing, acting, swimming, cooking, eating, reading, beta editing of fanfiction, and sleeping. Anybody who cares to debate me on the basis that that last one is not an "interest" may feel free, but I've got a whole slew of evidence to back up my case! ;o) Fandoms: C.S. Lewis/The Chronicles of Narnia I've not read the entire Narnia series, but sometimes I get inspired to write. I keep it to the Pevensies, usually, but I may break out into other characters. Hairspray Every new musical I see gives me new ideas. I have a couple characters that intrigue me, but it's a struggle to get the decade's language correct, so these pieces will be few and far between. Harry Potter I'm an HP freak. I'll admit it, free of charge. My writings here center on unnoticed, secondary, or tertiary characters, although I'm unafraid to let my instinct guide me into a piece reflecting on a main character's thoughts. Heroes Although I don't always get to see the show, I do enjoy this genre fully and if an idea strikes me I will let it flow. High School Musical I find the plot terribly overdone, yes, but the characters are very interesting. Thus, I work with them. Kingdom Hearts I finished the second game (I maxed out my characters on beginner mode; I'm that nerdy) and found that these characters could use a little better justice than the game gives. If an idea comes, I'll write it out. National Treasure Riley's a fun guy. The rest aren't as interesting, to me, but I do happen to like Riley. You might get a oneshot or two about him from me. Pokemon Having lived through its original craze, I'm rather old-school, so I center myself in Kanto. I do love Johto, as I find it the most well-developed in terms of the cartoon and the games, but Kanto has too much flavor to ignore. Sky High It's not an Oscar-nominated movie or anything like that, but it's cute and it involves people with superpowers. Where there are superpowers, there are personalities screaming to be explored, and I'll heed the call. Teen Titans Although the comics are its origin, I know little of what's in their pages, so my work focuses on the cartoon's representations of the quintet. I may branch out into lesser known characters from time to time, but usually I stick to the main group. X-Men They started my obsession with fantasy-related paraphenalia, so I know a bit of everything about their history from numerous locations. Again, I'm a bit old school, so I enjoy the older generation, but I'm not going to ignore an urge to write a one-shot on Jamie in favor of an uninspired piece on Jean. In-progress fics: Fabric of Maturation Fandom(s): High School Musical/Baldur's Gate Projected length: 100+ chapters. Yeah, it's going to be that long. Anticipated completion date: Summer 2009. Summary: The characters we all love and know from High School Musical suddenly find themselves separated from one another in a strange, unfamiliar land. If they are to survive, and, more importantly, return home, they will have to learn things they never thought they could. A story that explores the process of maturity that takes place in a world removed from our own. It's like Narnia, but not. (Crossover with Baldur's Gate.) Announcements: Coming soon: A Modern Narnia, the Chronicles of Narnia fic. My NaNoWriMo 2008 project. Award?! - My story, Ten Lost Paths, won the Reviews Lounge BEST AU PIECE 2008 Reviewer's Choice Award! I'm so proud of that little thing! Guess the younger me had some chops!! The Ten Things You Need to Know About Me: 1. As a general rule, I don't write slash, but I will tiptoe near the line. I will question characters' sexuality and occasionally leave it in limbo. I don't do incest, usually, but I write plenty of brotherly (and, occasionally, sisterly) love. 2. I don't do M-rated fiction. I will read it, review it, and BETA it, but I generally don't write it. 3. If I break from canon, it should be intentional. I research the tiniest details to ensure that they're correct before I include them in a story or even as backstory for a character. 4. Angst, humor, and high drama are my friends. We hang out together at the park and discuss what spices go best with fried zucchini. Expect them to show up in nearly everything I write. 5. I'm using fanfiction to experiment. Thus you will see many odd narrational styles, aesthetic presentations, and character sketches. If they work, great. If not, I'll learn from it. 6. I hold myself to high standards. You shouldn't be bored or hopelessly lost reading my work. You should feel as if these characters are speaking every word of dialogue I write for them. If I miss the mark, let me know. 7. Reviews are an author's lifeblood. Without them, we cannot hope to improve. If you have anything to say about my work, please leave a review. It can take only a few seconds to brighten my day. 8. In the words of the Temptations, "I Ain't Too Proud to Beg." I will send out PMs requesting to be added to your C2 community if I see that you have one and my fic fits it. Please consider my requests seriously. :) 9. At any time, I will happily break rules 1-4 for the sake of a genius idea. 10. Proper grammar, spelling, and etiquette are of paramount importance to me at all times. Please be courteous when addressing me, and I will endeavor to reciprocate. (In other words, don't be an idiot. :-p) I, Sandshrew777, do solemnly swear to review all the fics I read, regardless of the number of reviews, I have joined the review revolution. 1/18/2008 Please leave a review and share with me all of your thoughts, both negative and positive, regarding my pieces. I concentrate my work into short bursts, so you'll see mostly one-shots below, but I may surprise you with a chaptered story or two. A final note of importance: When I review a story, I keep in mind that your story is your baby. Sometimes I might get a little harsh and I do apologize for that. I try to be as honest as I can and sometimes I really can't - or don't, because I'm in love with myself and my zingers, sometimes - sugarcoat it. If a comment is abrasive, do tell me and I will almost always apologize for it. I just tend to be a little irrational when I'm reviewing and I let my fingers talk before my brain can tell me to stop. All that said, when I review, I mean to try and make your story the best it can be, in my eyes. Feel free to disagree with me if you like. But I'm here to make myself a better writer and I like it when people tell me what's not working to its best in my stuff. That's also why I try to compliment authors and point out what they're doing very well, because that's important, too. Knowing your strengths is always key. I come from a workshopping background with fiction and I'm used to reading stories and suggesting possible avenues for revision because that's what we do in workshop. I realize that may not be an author's intentions here, and if that's the case, then that's the case. Just please remember that we can always get better at our craft (myself included, absolutely!) and I'm just trying to facilitate that. I don't mean to cut anybody down; rather, I want to build us all up. A little naive and idealistic, perhaps, but that's me. Thank you for reading. Blessings upon you. |
