You're the CEO of Sony. What will you change about....
The Playstation brand, past or present. From the Nintendo Playstation days to the present. What would you change or add/remove from the brand's product line. Also as CEO, you can choose to fund or not fund certain projects as part of your executive powers.
Scrap the Move. And that book thing.
The first PS and PS2 were perfect for their time with the exception that PS2 stayed active for too long. The PS4 has in most regards done great, I can't put fingers on what it needs besides small software features to the OS, as to the demands of the community. However, the focus of firstparty has diminished significantly, which is perhaps the biggest loss. PS5 should for all regards and purposes be similar to PS4 with of course added performance and more versatility for VR devices and next-generation products. Knowing that the next evolution of VR devices will house significant boost to resolution and require very high framerate, it should be no surprise that PS5 will need to be able to support them. The marketing teams of the game industry in general also need to focus on 30 plus year old consumers, as these are the people who started gaming "seriously" from late 80's into mid 90's. Other than that I think Sony should perhaps sell off non-SCE divisions and focus solely on gaming. As I have stated many times over the years here, gaming is going to dominate the future as the virtual experience of escaping into a gaming fantasy will easily substitute any reality. We are not there yet, but the companies that solidify their roots now, will play the biggest part of shaping that future, 10-20 years from now.
I wouldn't scrap anything from the past because the past is the past, but the ethos of Sony has changed a lot in recent years. I still think Sony is the best brand for producing alternative first party content or for curating alternative third party content (often import), but the whole feel of the company seems to be a little off since the PS1 and PS2-era. I'd personally ensure every Sony IP that fans long for ends up being used in this PS4 generation. I'd start by assembling a team to develop a new SOCOM game. The tactical shooter is nearly dead but with the success of Rainbow 6 Siege, you never know how big they can get again. All in all, no more stagnant IPs.
Make online multiplayer free again. That's it.
- Get a brand new software team to add features at a much faster rate.
I ban Idea Factory, Gust, and Compile Heart games from all platforms I fund remakes/sequels to Streets of Rage and Guardian Heroes. I be not completely pants on head retarded when launching the PS3 like haha what the fuck. That is all.
thank god none of you are the CEO. Bless this community lol. A lot of you are just stating what you want, not what a CEO would do that's good for business.
It's a thread not a shareholders meeting
I would immediately cancel/close SCE. And fire everyone involved. Oh yeah, maybe start offering optical fiber gigabit internet services.
Oh almighty future Sony CEO enlight us then!
If I were CEO, I'd try and get full rights to Shenmue from Sega and fully fund the series to the end for the fans. Secondly, I'd try and buy the Dino Crisis IP from Capcom. Not like they're doing anything with it. Aside from the lack of Dino Crisis, I'm pretty happy with the way the PS4 has turned out, and frankly, that's not something Sony could fix without throwing millions at a sinking Japanese gaming company. As for the Vita... I'd cut my losses and discontinue it. As a company, Sony has already crapped all over anyone that bought it in the first couple years. Promising great console quality AAA experiences and giving us Japanese imports and indie games. F*** that. When it comes to the upcoming PSVR, I'm honestly not sure what I would do. They've already invested millions of dollars. My guess is that it's at the point where stopping now would just be a waste. Bide my time on this one and see what happens. If it turns out to be a full on waste of Sony's time and money, then we would pull the plug.
I wouldn't do that, but I'd close PlayStation and make games for Windows and other operating systems. Each of those games would have a DRM free option and all the big ones would have physical copies sold through online retailers for those people who want them. I'd hate myself otherwise, supporting an irrelevant platform whose only purpose is to make the company money. I'd rather contribute to an open platform on which software developers and hardware manufacturers can freely compete and customers have more options. If I were the CEO of Microsoft (a similar thread on the Xbox forums), I'd do more to support those developers and customers. Naughty Dog can be let go. They're a second party anyway, so they can make games for other platforms. It's that way for a lot of console developers.
i agree i was like phew lol
if that true i really glad you not the CEO
