Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.
Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.
Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."
Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.
Really trying to get this bill pushed before anybody actually reads it...
Give me a break, it's only 2 and a 1/2 pages long.
And it's a horrible 2 and a half pages, I'm starting to wonder if maybe I could propose a better plan, that you know, wouldn't give unlimited control of that money to a bumbling fool?
I'm disappointed Palin doesn't completely disapprove of it, I'm wondering if it's not just some bigger pocketed campaign supporters pulling strings. :/
Who cares what Palin says ? as if its worth a dime.
Vote yes on page one and vote no on page two. Please no more questions!
El Presidente Bush!
They don't care about the reading of it. They are ramming it down the throats of congress and tying to avoid any real sensible debate. Anytime this administrations uses fear to rush a vote, it is a clear sign to look at things more carefully. If the Patriot Act, and Iraq war is any kind of example they should take a deep breath and debate the details.
The robot speaks!
The way that the Republicans have kept her on a leash has really been insulting. Can you imagine having Hillary Clinton meet with foreign leaders and have her not answer any questions? If that sounds absurd to you, it's because it IS absurd.
Then when the Palin-bot speaks she has no credibility. When she says that another Depression is possible I'm thinking, yea, my grandfather said the same thing last night after watching the cable news coverage of the financial crisis. I love my grandfather, but I'm not voting for him for Vice President of the United States.
This just in McCain claims he is suspending his campaign to deal with the economy. How?
Wants to postpone Palins debate.
Big surprise. God I hate being right.
Oh, well THAT makes it official...Thanks Sarah! You sure can see a lot from that front porch.
Sorry I got worked up, it's not Palin's debate they are trying to postpone, but it's just as sleazy and underhanded a move.
Since McCain doesn't want to debate Obama he should send in the pit bull.
Sad thing is Obama true self is coming out. Obama does not care enough about what is going on he is not willing to postpone the debate for a few days... Whats wrong with that picture. I am sure if the table was turned and Obama said lets post pone. You all would think how great he was for that. God Bless Ameerica and God Help us If Obama is elected.
God will help us if Obama is elected!
Have you really been dozing off for so long that you don't recognize yet another McShame ploy? Wake up! He is getting trounced in the polls about the economy. He cannot tell from day to day what is going on or even what he wants to support. That is the reason he wants to "postpone" the debate -- plain and simple.
The time for McCain (yes, the real one from 2000) has come and gone and whatever bizarre personality change has come over him since then could probably benefit from Gov Palin's witch purging pastor.
God help us, indeed!
David Letterman was less than thrilled that McCain called him to cancel appearing on his show because he had to "jump on an airplane to Washington" and deal with the economy, which is "about to crater." I expect he would have been less upset if McCain hadn't gone, instead, to a different interview (I think it was for CBS news, but not sure.) rather than rushing right off.
I don't think many politicians are fans of interviews, I know just recently Jon Stewart managed to get Tony Blair. I can't wait to see either Obama or McCain on his show.
QACOACH, I stand by what i said. Please go tp dontvoteobama.net and tell me anything on there that is false. Please i dare you to prove anything false on there!!!!
Oops...my bad! I thought this was a McCain/Palin thread...not an Obama thread. In any case, please direct me to a viable, intelligent website instead of a hate-filled racist pit, and then perhaps we can chat.
This coming from someone who managed a D in economics in college. Oh sage Sarah, please dazzle us more with your talking points.
I'm just hoping that all this educatin' going on will expand some of her viewpoints beyond the small-town, backwaters views she seems to hung on to all this time. Having a science teacher for a father doesn't seem to have made her any smarter on important, barrier-breaking matters of the day. Of course if this happens and Palin actually learns something, she could lose her high school-educated base. But that's what happens when you get a little larnin'.
Please, please expand your brain, Sarah!
After the elections, this woman SHOULD evaporate into oblivion.
Did she really receive a D in economics? Please give us the citation for that one. Google, here I come!
She could be teachable...
One must always have hope.
The story might be inaccurate. Rumor has it she was merely showing cleavage in class, and somebody confused the fact that she was showing her Double D's in Economics class with her receiving a D in Economics class. In reality, I'm sure she got at least a D+.
As for her comments about the great depression, she was referring to the 1990's, when republicans were generally bummed out about Bill Clinton being president.
Warning: All of the above is seriously meant to be funny, if not entirely inaccurate.
Well Biden thought there was TV in 1929 and didnt know who was president.
And one of his professors called Biden "Joe College" and a bit of a dissapointment.
1927: Bell Telephone and the U.S. Department of Commerce conduct the first long distance use of TV, between Washington D.C. and New York City on April 9th. Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover commented
Doubt you can produce the video with Biden saying this, or his professor saying what you assume. Facts are both Palin and McCain bottom of their class just like Bush. We need intelligence in the white house not rhetoric
Is that woman for real?! Tell us something we don't know, Sarah....geeshhh.
Palin reminds me of the person telling some one stuck under a bus, to watch out for that bus coming
She'll just get some photos with some high-power economics types...or maybe they'll just "Photoshop" her in at the Stock Exchange standing next to traders.
Education by osmosis.
Ha...ha...haaa.....
I need some of that, education by osmosis. Would make my life a heck of a lot easier.
Sarah Palin has spoken? Thank God - I have been waiting for someone with her impeccable credentials to lend guidance on this critical issue!
It's time for debate to end now - let's just do whatever Sarah says and everything will be fine.
That will be $1.29 for that hamurger experience of her!
Who,
The Congress,
They are Democratic majority.
They will newer agree among them self.
If you add Obama to that, still more democrats, not help from him.
OOO pleaseeeee!!!!!
Good call?
No Obama in White House.
Bush will be remembered as the greatest president ever!!!!
Greatest economic disaster,Greatest strategic mistake, greatest profits for oil companies, greatest gap between the rich and poor, and the Greatest corporate welfare bail out of 1 billion dollars
More of the same lies eight more years and then vote for more change to the same!
We agree on that,
But
Bush and Obama have one thing in common.
Made all the promises, and then screwed us up.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice shame on me.
Obama has been honest, McCain how ever lies and flip flops . Bush and McSame or Obama for change? Remember McCain and Graham, his campaign manager on a 2 mill payroll from Fanny and Freddy. McCain and his 92 percent voting record for Bush Policies? His insistence of the surge, versus being in Iraq, Obama voted against Iraq McCain as usual voted with Bush. Not only would McCain be more of the same but we will have Palin with no idea of policy or economics. She won Alaska with her media skills not her knowledge.
Republican screw-ups are stealing $10K from every American Family. So much for "tax breaks". Borrow and spend (and then FAIL) clearly has any Democrat economic errors beat hands down.
This will go down in history as the most epic financial mess of all time RIP Reaganomics
Oh, yes, one more note...go deregulate something, will you, BOR(derline)?
We better do something before it is to late.....
I'm up for rounding all the politicians up and putting them on a stranded isle somewhere with nobody but themselves, see if things don't get better right off the bat.
It's been "Too Late" for twenty yrs..
Shepard\Dog\Rat.........Coming to a Black hole near you!
Did anyone see her blink as she made the statement? How about any wires - or perhaps she is wireless?
"If we don't attack Iraq, they'll point their WMD on us. We have to act quick, no time to think!"
"If we don't cough up $700B, we'll see the 2nd great depression. We have to act quick, not time to think (or blink)"
Have we heard this story before somewhere?
Wow this article makes it sound like Sarah Palin is pushing for the current administration plan for the 700bil. Read further readers to make sure that you know. She is just saying that if action of some sort is not taken to reform wall street we may be headed towards dire times.
As for the current plan can you say Paulson - Cheney / Berneke - Rumsfeld
This is sounding very familiar. I am a Republican and hope that this party gets back to its roots. Either way I am an Christian first, American second and do not trust humanity, mine or anyone Else's.
I just hope that the Fed gets their side of this situation taken care of for the American people and not the corporations. I also hope that we have learned our lesson. There is a reason that our grandparents hid money in coffee cans. I don't recommend coffee cans but we had better learn to be more conservative with our spending in this country. Each American, corporate or individual, has a responsibility to be prudent with their assets.
Hey truthtrekkers,
Hate to break your bubble, but all you have is humanity. You actually expect Someone to come meet you when you land at the Pearly Gates? Who do you think thought all that up? The answer is humanity, so if you have no faith in it, you're floating in some black hole. By the way, those really exist, no one's making them up.
Heavens to Betsy!!!
I wonder about those dire times. Will it mean that Barbie won't be on the lips of every little girl in America @ Christmas time? That is bombarded daily through Nickelodeon commercials. Or That Us Americans won't be buying the technological devices that are proven obsolete the next week. Not even a chance those times are going to come. Why you may ask.
Because the Corporations of the world will not let a depression get in the way of sales.
Shepard\Dog\rat...Coming to a Black hole near you.
OK First to Helen I think you are getting humanity and humility mixed up. i believe in humility but humanity includes all human action so when I think of individuals like Stalin, Hitler, and Khan I do not give great credence to them. Let us not forget the droves of non independent thinking individuals that followed them. So no I do not give great credence to humanity. Humans in general left to their own devices fail miserably and we see this over and over again. Rome was one of those wonderful free thinking humanitarian societies but I am not running out to join the Coligula club. People think it is a horrible thing to suffer but those like Martin Luther King, William Wallace, and Leonidas of Sparta found glory in sacrifice because of something greater then themselves and gave credit to something greater. So you can take their ideals away but that does not change the fact that they did not credit humanity for their sacrifice. As for black holes who knows maybe those scientist in France will conjure one up with the collide they made. By the way I am an avid reader of Carl Sagan and more importantly Stephen Hawking. You should read his book God Created the Integers before you suppose the ideals of God are restricted to the unreasonable. And if you start telling me that you are smarter than Stephen Hawking I'm gonna have to leave the conversation at good evening.
Now Cooperatives
Well it might not be their choice. All the rules of finance have been broken and if you don't have the funds you don't have the funds. My greater worry is that we might end up a socialistic or communist country. You might want to lay down for a government but I would rather see a free country. Maybe I am a bit too idealistic but I'm hoping that we can care about each other enough to be free. Government regulation is on the way in which means you might have to forget about the American dream and start thinking the European dream. If you are OK with this than fine and If I have to live in it I will deal with it, but I will fight tooth and nail for freedom. See what you need to understand is that economics have always been about power but with government regulation you and I and all the average Americans will have less access to it. No more Bill Gate's or Steve Job's because the entrepreneur will be a thing of the past. Could it happen? (Yes) Will it? (Who Knows) If it happens (Well Ive got my back pack, 3 pound tent, portable stove, flint, MSR portable water purifier, 2deg sleeping bags, Mountaineering boots, winter climbing gear.) its a great hobby and could always come in handy. What do I think - Look at the back of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy it says Don't Panic. Best Advice Ever.
That is awesome Truthtrekkers. However you've got me all wrong. First. The nick is c o r p e r a t i e s.
This is for a reason that I don't plan to explain. Subtly........ I'm not exactly the wanted newsvine agent here. However, I do absolutely love the fact that you even mentioned the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. That in my book, Puts you up there at the top. I'm finding the time to reread "The Restaurant At The End Of The Galaxy."
Next I'm not about to lay down for any gov.t!
I can chase down my food. :)>
Although your into the survival gear. There is nowhere to go and survive anymore. The best thing for you and me is ......Our race of humans getting to a higher level. and exploring space. I would rather be a friend than a foe.
Now McCain and Obama. They are both puppets. With the worlds most powerful shoving their arms all the way up. Go down a rabbit hole and watch the "End Game" movie on Utube. Then checkout Infowars dot com. Or Prisonplanet dot com.You will want to race, not run, to wherever it is that your going to survive.
I feel this could be a great endeavor for you.
Last I leave you with this: Peace\love without the rose colored glasses.
Alex Jones for President.
Shepard\Dog\Rat......Coming to a Black hole near you. Unless you have a shard of glass. Any will do. . . Please any larvals out there trying to understand this. Don't. Go back to bed and watch more American Gladiator. 'Bill Hicks' -May he rest in peace.
oops...Restaurant At The End Of The "Universe." Man I need to go to bed. "Where is my towel?" You must always remember where your towel is. :)>
Sega!
Obama has no time for this right now.
He is in Hotel in Florida, practicing the mano a mano, to meet his master.
There is not point having him in congress showing some true leadership.
McCain isn't in Washington. He ditched David Letterman to be on w/Katie Curic and will be at Clinton's Global Initiative tomorrow before going to Washington.
Keith O took his place on Letterman.
I wonder if Palin thinks a Great Depression is man made or just part of nature.
Its what she gives to the American psyche- great and grave depression.
I can hear her saying it now...
"The economic downturn in America is a task from God."
God sent me to take my sheep!
Can she see the Great Depression from Alaska? It's somewhere just beyond Russia. Somewhere . . . .
If she got a D in economics, I dont know what grade she got for Geography or History. She has an astronauts view of anything intellectual or academic.
Now let's not sell our astronauts short. Among the Space Center 2004 flight crew class are 11 astronauts with masters degress, two with both Ph.D.s and M.D.s (one of whom may wear lipstick); and another M.D.
Now let's not sell our astronauts short. Among the Space Center 2004 flight crew class are 11 astronauts with masters degress, two with both Ph.D.s and M.D.s (one of whom may wear lipstick);
But they "may or may not" have a job if Obama is president but it does appear he backed away from his proposal to save money for education by delaying NASA's manned moon and Mars missions.
"Change we can believe in", no, er,um, wait its now, um. "change we need". Yea that what the sign says today.
The Obama "smoke and mirrors campaign, Pandering, or not Padering, well we aren't sure if we are Pandering (we have to do more polling and focus groups) for votes near you!
If he's elected, I'm sure he'll change his mind again and say circumstances have changed and he'll have to cancel the manned space program.
I wish to clarify that by astronaut, I mean a VERY REMOTE, DISTANT view of anything on earth.
Of course our astronauts are intellectually brilliant !!! No question. There´s no comparison with this Palin woman at all !
I hope that clarifies things. No offense to astronauts !
Not that I wish to defend Palin. However, I don't blame her for being a dimly lit star. You would be dimly lit also. If you just pulled your arms out of dead mouse goo. :)>
This assistant press secretary said yesterday that this "bailout" has been in the works for MONTHS. It is all part of the entire neocon plan. And oh yes, if there is a economic catastrophe or outward public rebellion, Bush can call Martial Law and have this election suspended - indefinitely.
Sarah Palin is hardly intelligent and probably learned about the Great Depression yesterday when she received a crash course in it from her NeoCon buddies. Maybe God spoke to her in tongues and said that this was the Rapture...
I've been saying the same thing for weeks now!! It's not like we have a Natl Guard anymore.
And of course Bush and Cheney have Blackwater to quell the unrest!!
Blackwater and some of the Army:
Permanent Active duty INSIDE US: Brigade homeland tours start Oct. 1 - Army Times
I haven't read this bailout package. Can somebody please explain to me just who it is they're bailing out? Is the government actually going to use the tax dollars I've been sending them all my adult life (and part of my teenage years) to actually help ME? They're going to send my mortgage company a check, pay off at least part of my mortgage, so I'm not literally in debt until my husband and I retire?
Is that what they're going to do?
Didn't think so.
If the McCain/Palin Campaign and their supporters really think that a quick meet-and-greet at the UN, and a few talking points on this bailout package, gives Palin the Foreign Policy and Economic experience needed to be President, that just shows you how much they value the Office of the President and what they think it takes to hold that office. "Country First"? Just another slogan with no substance.
I guess Palin is an expert on this too. Like the energy expert she is supposed to be but couldn't even answer a question correctly
Anybody see what Palin said to the crowd of "60,000" at The Villages in FL? That McCain has been warning about this for months and that Washington (read Obama and Biden) wasn't listening. WTF??? How in the world can ANYBODY say that and look themselves in the mirror? It's astounding really.
You should try looking at some facts before you post here.
This is what MCCain said about Fannie Mae TWO YEARS AGO!
I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.
So when it didn't pass (under a Republican Congress) and was re-introduced again in 2007, how come we don't see his name as a co-sponsor?
The man has been one of the biggest Activist FOR deregulation in Washington, Only republicans are trying to put the entire blame on Freddie Mac which is insane.
When most non-pardison economist say it was the unregulated Wall Street, that got us in this mess. All are involved. From Freddie Mac to AIG to your Capital One Master card you may possess in your wallet. All fall under his wide umbrella of Deregulation are involved in our current mess.
Shades of Blackmail if you ask me. Give us what we want or we'll make sure of it. I have a Summer Cave in Western Pa. go for it. Another, last ditch effort to blame Democrats. I'd raise and call her bluff. Take the wealthy out at the knees.
That's the one thing I like about Obama, he provided the cool exterior you need at a time like this. If confidence is one of the main issue's here in the market I rather he from him.
Bumbling McSame can't only change his mind every other day!!
Then the stupid @!$%# form Alaska opens her idiot mouth, reread the quote she really doesn't say anything of substance "we may find ourselves on the road to a depression"
Go the back to Ketchikan and walk the 28 millios dollar road to the bridge "you" stopped!
Women if your husbands stop taking your advice on things it may be Sarah's fault!!!
Most of the people on here know i am against any deal of a bailout...until i heard Bill Gross's from PIMCO on CNBC.
He actually laid it out in terms that were east to understand...he also has voluntered to manage this money for free!! oh they will make money am sure selling the assets like any brokerage house does.
However, He at least come up with a good estimate on how much the People could make...we could actually make about 25 billion a year in profit. This guy is an expert in the bonds market.
I think turning it over to a firm such as PIMCO might not be a bad idea. And no i have no money involved in the bond market or PIMCO.
Might be worth a look at if you have access to the Washington Post he did an article on it. I do not so i cannot link to it. If someone does i think its important to have everyone read it.
This takes it out of the hands of the Paulson people.
Might be worth a look.
I do support a move like this, only these people can unravel whats in the CDS's. and make sense of it. My fear if we go the paulson plan that puts this into the hands of goldman sachs.
Read it people and see what you think
Well , she should know , she's been studying and she's been ( according to a McCain Spokesperson ) " learning at the feet of the master " , all for several weeks now . I hope she tackles the problems with the space program next ....................
20,000 attended Obama's rally, 60,000 attended Palin's. There is a need for the democrats to attack Palin any way they can. Mock her hair, her makeup, her earrings, her glasses, her skirts and dresses, her shoes, her children, her baby, and her husband. They accused her of adultery, her husband of incest, and her daughter of incest. And who was there to promote these attacks? It was CNN with their Wolf and Campbell. Palin is a jewel in a pig's snout. America does not deserve this new Margaret Thatcher.
How insulting to Margaret Thatcher!!!! However, I agree that Palin is a pig's snout--LOL LOL LOL
she's probably killed and gutted a pig too and we all know that makes you a great VP candidate----WHEW!!!
Pastor you are funny, very good I am still laughing!!!
Trust me, I've no need to mock her. I'll just note her utter lack of experience required for the job, and the fact that she a) bungled up the economy of her town as mayor, even while hauling in record amounts of earmarks from Congress and b) is under active investigation for abusing her power as an elected official to try to settle a personal vendetta. That's plenty to lose my vote.
60,000 hmm
do you have the split how many Democrats attended?
A lawyer?
I hate lawyers!
Oh.
Just realized why I dislike Obama so much.Ignore that,As some said. “It is not what you know (your education), but how you use it”
Great depression.. that is what I feel when I understand that this woman takes herself seriously..
For this great nation to fall for her roles .. her lines her script.. I have seen this movie before and I tell you there are really weapons of mass distraction at work. whoopie doooo.. elephant doo
Big God big land big hard sun beatin on a big people in a big hard world...... perfect people doing perfectly well for themselves ..always right never a concern they may do more harm then good.. but hey they are forgiven.. I say perfect plan perfect God imperfect people but hey my version of msn xp doesn't pass the test these days either.. sure bill is out looking for me right now...but I won't hide .. right here in Hope were I told him I would be when we last talked....(too bill .. god is a listener it appears to me, but he sure is laughin these dazes...hopefully. gerrbear...(jerr-bear)
Since she's like McSame, tomorrow she say she meant she was on the way to a depression from lack of light!!
Since God guides her regarding war I wonder what the almighty has to add to the economy debate???
not if we continue to practice Great Depression Abstinence, right Bristol?
If this bill is so easy why does McCain want to postpone the debate? He wants to meet with congress and Bush before debating Obama
what happened to the fundamentals of the economy are strong.. LOL
palin/mccain doesn't seem to even exist in reality.
All I think of when I see this woman is that I would sleep with her but she needs to stop talking. Leave the glasses on and the hair up.
Shhhhhhh. *Finger on lips*
WOW! Sarah Palin understands what is already bleeding obvious to everyone else.
You mean to tell me our economy is not sound? OMG...The sky is falling.....
Palin is so right.
The Great Depression is looming
This time could be called OBAMA'S DEPPRESION.
OR more accuratly we could call it the REPUBS' DEPRESSION!!! Except the money folks (Bush, McBush, Chaney et al) wouldn't be affected nor would the Bank heads and executives. Just ALL the rest of us !!!
If you mean Obama's depression to fix. The same old pattern. Repubs wreck everything, Dems have to come in and put it back together.
Here's the little gem hidden in Paulson's three-page proposal: "Sec. 8. Review. Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."
Does this alarm anyone else?
Yes it does and I am watching the hearings. Paulson and that other goof ball aren't offering solutions, just ifs and could or should be.
Yep. Paulson is asking us to give him $700 billion to dispose of as he sees fit. No review, no oversight, no accountability.
NO DEAL.
YES YES YES YES YES!!! Why should ANYONE have this kind of money or decision making power--no questions asked? Sounds a lot like a "hurry up and act and don't ask me questions", much like how we got into the Iraq war. Hope we don't get sold down the river.........again.
It does and that part is being cut out the bill or it wont pass.
It means that Paulson could give the money to his daughter as a birthday present and nobody could do anything about it. Great law, eh? I'd like to propose the same thing, only I'll settle for less. Just give me one billion dollars with no oversight as to what I do with it. Please? In all seriousness, the Bush administration must think that Congress is insane. But the whole story fits together nicely. They planned this for months. They push it onto Congress a short time before they go on break so they have to make a quick decision. Then they tell the public that the sky will fall if Congress doesn't pass this bill, and they insist on a "clean" bill with nothing added. Sounds a lot like what they did with the Patriot Act. When they specifically say that no court can even review what they do with the money, you know that they are up to no good.
Pastor: So, they had 60,000 at The Villages in Orlando? Right. There was an article I read not long ago, commenting that the McCain camp has been exaggerating the crowd size at their rallies with Palin. In one case they said they had 10,000 when the venue only held 3,500. In another, they claimed that the fire marshall told them that there were 23,000 -- but the fire marshall denied ever telling them that and reporters on the scene estimated that there were approximately 8,000 people there. They literally tripled the number of people to make it sound like there was some kind of "movement" afoot because of Palin. The truth is that the McCain camp lies about everything. The rest of us have figured that out.
It doesn't surprise me that Palin has done this. She is living the American dream. Having an underaged daughter that was molested. And who is pregnant with an illegitimate child. Something that the Repub's shunned Britney Spears' sister for. Yet Now it is a normal and personal family matter. That should be private. yadda yadda yadda. So scary!
Shepard\Dog\Rat.......Coming to a Black hole near you!
That's it? She's deep!
sorry pastor god forgives you.(and me too). if numbers count.. just look at his crowds....... if she is named as the other woman in her husband biz relationships divorce..sealed records? if she has a baby who is never growing up?Who she treats like a bag of pototoes in Ireland.. who may never feel the total wholeness of being (for this is the hardest cruelest thing one can do to another.. she says she is better than all who went before her to there doctor and made the other choice.. how dare her I don't think she will get by that one folks but that is why they call me the bear)
.if she thinks she can always be right. if she thinks the best her children will ever be is warrior or breeder? go to the army or jaill.. get married and raise kids while you are still a kid yourself.. shows she never learned how to learn herself.. .. Appers to me.. She is just becomes a moving target which it seems was the plan all along.. no wonder some say mcshame.. I just say honorable john as he still has some courage, how else can this be happening? Miltary mind set folks. attack attack attack.. it is all he knows...
Great depression is her being anything<> but a student for a long long time to come.. then she can reappear and be a leader...... America loves to forgive ...Nixon was the one remember? Seem the rain is stopping so the mud will dry if we turn it over we can make bricks to throw around. I perfer mud so I shall get out to the garden.. it is harvest season and we reap what we sow, anyone needs some tomatoes? Sure hope we get some sun to turn them all red haha got to love green .. over and peace out ..
Vast hyperbole to bully Congress into hurriedly passing bills? Looks like she understands the Bush Doctrine after all.
McCain suspends campaign to help with bailout
see newsvine post
Now that is a Leader we want,
is Obama still in Hotel in Florida preparing for the mano a mano?
Meh. His help is neither wanted nor needed, not if he is going to 'help' in the same way he helped us into this crap in the first place.
Border you are as slow as your candidate, I already posted that one hour ago.
McCain is backing out due to his lack of knowledge in this crisis. McCain is just trying to find out what the word Depression means and switch his money to Euros before debating
usa1
you comments are so idiotic, not even funny!
Border
read post 27, you type with out thought or comprehension of what is going on in this thread in post 27 I already mentioned that . If you are a paid bot, you must be starving, I doubt any body would take your posts seriously
LEADER?!!! LOL McBush is afraid of a debate where the answers aren't written out ahead of time !!! LOL LOL LOL
USA1
Once again, McCain shows he knows how to, and it is a lose-lose for Obama. If he follows McCain then, well, he's following McCain, making McCain look like the leader. If he doesn't follow McCain, he gives credence to McCain's "country first". Brilliant, brilliant political move.
Only to the moronic masses that subscribe to his BS!!!
I really think Border line has to be considered a joke. No one in their right mind can buy what the McCain campaign is doing .
Last week the economy was fundamentally sound, today McCain is saying we are in the eye of a depression and he must cancel the debate. McCain is out of touch and his campaign manager Rick Davis is a paid lobbyist for Franny and Freddie. Only an idiot would consider McCain going to Washington is to help solve the crisis he just realized today. Fact is McCain is scared to debate and without a plan. Latest is Bush is requesting Obama to come to Washington to help solve this problem.
McCain's game is obvious and only the truly challenged would buy the McCain country first BS, maybe thirty years ago but the McCain of today is McBush. Lie cheat bite and scratch to the white house is todays McCain's campaign motto
I wouldn't mind to never hear anything from Palin again. I don't care if she doesn't talk to the press. I don't care that she can't give a coherent answer to anything not rehearsed or read from a teleprompter or parroted from the feed in her ear. She has nothing worthwhile to say that is her own, except maybe for moose recipes.
Dear Pastor, no Democratic candidate or official said anything like the things you say they did! Tell the truth, man of god!
Unanswered Questions:
• Why is it necessary to pass something overnight?
• If so called experts like Paulson and Bernanke couldn't see this coming some time ago then what makes anyone think we can trust their judgement now?
• How do we know the bailout will work since no one can explain the new gimmicks Wall Street contrived to bilk the public? Nor can they draw picture to illustrate the complexities of these gimmicks.
• What if these schemes are so complex and confused that it may take years to come to an understanding of them?
• What does all this suggest about our economy and its manipulators?
Statement:
The propaganda fed to the public since the days of Reagan about an "invisible hand", which supposedly regulates the "free" market, is pure nonsense. Our markets are anything but free. How can any market be free when its manipulators spend over 2 billion a year lobbying Congress for laws that will favor them? This is "free"?!
Globalism, that economic get-rich-quick scheme of the financial elite, and laissez-faire economics will never work as they are gimmicks that take no consideration of human nature. Let the dog off the leash and it will follow instinct and do whatever it wants to and the rest be damned. These gimmicks were sold to a naive public as beneficial to society as a whole. The fact is that they were never intended to help anyone except the elite.
Dangnabit I have seen this movie before? Stop the campaign? Sure resign and declare the American way the winner..
if he fails we will throw him out too............................but lets start with the current one just to put ......the Fear in um.. Guys fact is Nixon was the one, and they hung on to him till one quiet still night?? Then they all turned and he was gone so quick .. it was almost as amazing as loosing the real honorable JOHN the first. But don't let that hurt continue we can take this back in a news cycle.
Got to love the future and just wish more could join in as I always thought there would be more of us by now.(in hope we call liberal=don't always know but can learn..<>conservitive=I know best). peace out sun's out things crack to let the light in...
Hey...that's all she needed. One meeting with the President of Afghanistan, and now she can predict "great depressions". Hopefully, the only great depression she will experience will be the one she gets from the severe drubbing the Repubs get in November.
Jeez...go back to moose gutting, Sarah!
Through all of this tangled web, you have to ask yourself just how did these people get into power? Tthey didn't elect themselves as far as I know. Since things seem fairly well split down the middle and they are all still screwing up no matter which side comes through with the vote. Just who is to really blame here?
I definitely agree with you on that. Both parties are two sides of the same coin.
If Mrs Bush puts any more make-up on she'll turn into a Plastic Talking Head as for the whole Republican Party that I was a part of I'm now a Independent and I no longer brain-washed.When Palin talks it doesn't mean anything! They don't want her to speak because shes dumber than a box of rocks and they are going down hard In my opion unless they can break a scandalised story they might as well save the gas on THE UN STRAIGHT EXPRESS !!!that's why the whimp wont show up.What defense does he have. Its All theater not playing well in the Heartland.
I agree McCain and Palin is running a silent campaign. Dont ask dont tell and nobody will know how unqualified they are
She looked into her crystal ball and come up with this one.... On what facts does she base this on? First you have to have a deep recession and then a depression... and then WWIII. Iran is itching for one
Proverbially.....Iran has it's head in its you know what. It's state of affairs is to just survive. If it even looks the wrong way with the wrong attitude.......the world will not stand for it. Now if it were Russia in the spotlight of yours.....Then we have sparks.
Although Iran could be looking toward a depression. That is more likely than any war.
Well I guess Sara will have to take some of those little pills, just like everybody else to deal with Her SAD or Post Partum Depression mostly caused by her running mate Sen. MCCain's.
Do we really need a Vice President who would be foolish enough to say that we could have another Great Depression, and who is fueling our fears by helping to actually worsen the outlook of most Americans. Maybe we should all go cash in our 401-k's tomorrow if we go by Palin's advice. The Republicans and their lack of voting for more regulation, the Iraq War causing high gas prices and now the thought of big government getting bigger because of Republicans who are at route of our problem. Oh what a day this has been. Maybe the Republicans should start eating their words about "Big Government". Let's please vote the Republicans out of office so we can get on with our lives and keep them out of our business. Yee Ha.
Well...in today's world, there seems to be a sector of the electorate that is more motivated by fear and panic than by reason and intellect. McShame is hoping that if he can awaken that segment that perhaps he can squeeze by in the general election.
Keep your friends informed...get your friends out to vote!
OBAMA '08
Please will someone remind tomorrow to find out whether my local Florida Wal-Mart will be holding the bread lines. I want to be sure I get an early start so I can walk instead of drive my car and get a good spot.
Sarah is doing fine. She is not loved by democrats and that shows in the comments and hate spewed here. With media giants like CNN and its goon squads of reporters crying she won't give them an interview, we can expect more and more hate. But, she like Clinton before her will learn quickly how to handle an aggressive and bigoted news media. Campbell and her big mouth ruined her chance. At the present time Sarah is drawing large crowds who want to see the next VP of the United States. She is qualified, she is ready, she will do ok! America's Margaret Thatcher is on her way.
Just an FYI, G:
We want to do more than "see" Sarah Palin. The US electorate has a right to understand who she is, what she supports, why she won't cooperate with "abuse of power" investigations, etc.
Smiling, waving and delivering a stump speech over and over, while enhancing her image as an attractive personage, does little to help us understand how the mayor of 5000+ person town, now governor of a state with less than 700K people - smaller in population than the Austin, TX area - is even vaguely qualified to run the US.
This isn't about goons and hate! This is about having a justifiable expectation that we can learn about and understand our leaders rather than blindly voting for them simply because they say they are a Christian, a conservative, a Republican, etc!
LoL Reverend. Larval s watching CNN.
Why don't we just buy the banks instead of buying up their worthless assets? The market cap of the banks "needing" to be bailed out is far less than $700 billion.
For example, AIG has over a trillion dollars of "assets" yet we bought 80% of it for $85 billion. That is a good deal which could make the taxpayers money when the assets are sold a few years down the road. We should buy the banks the same way.
You make complete sense and that is one of the things I hope they can hash out today. How does the American Tax Payer benefit from this package. Because like Bush said last night these business deserve to fail. Hope they get us Tax payers some kind of stake even if it is relieving the home buyers of their overpriced Mortgage burden.
I think Sarah is acting wise in money matters at the moment. Like a new bride who must learn how to budget and spend her husband's salary, Sarah needs time to learn how to spend tax payer dollars. While she has learned some with Alaska's small budget, the US budget and the different demands upon it is way larger. She needs advisers and she needs to follow the advice of her champion running mate. As VP we don't want to see the debacle of Obama-Biden where they disagreed with each other and smeared egg on their faces. Biden should have done as Palin is doing and make sure he represents the Presidential candidate. Palin is wise and did not say something stupid the media wants to trick out of her mouth. Palin is doing just fine. She granted interviews today and I am sure more will come. But were I her, CNN and big-mouth Campbell and her sexist bigotry would be the last one I would let interview me. Go Sarah, go....
Yes Reverend. No Reverend. If Palin could only raise a family with the life expectancy over twenty yrs..
I suppose that if she were to remove here blinders covering the abundance of bad decisions that are about to put her in prison. C'mon man. Your just kidding right.
If so I apologize. I tend to take seriously all that people write unless they admittedly mark it as satire.
I will try and remove my blinders in the future!
Being independently poor, all this is a bit humorous to me. I have managed to live within an income of around 25K a year for a long time. The bus is paid for the land is paid for and the old lady and I live a fairly comfortable life. We have all the amenities of modern civilisation, indoor plumbing, big screen TV and a microwave oven. I retired about a year ago and am now living on social security. I don't feel guilty about it yet because I haven't yet drawn out what I have paid in. Adjusted for inflation since 1960 it isn't likely I ever will. If the government goes tits up, I suppose I will have to figure something else out. I am fairly handy at fixing things and there is always someone around with something that needs to be fixed.
The next depression won't be like the last one and will likely last a lot longer because we have farther to fall than the people in the first one did. What we are probably watching is the end of things as they have been for the past sixty years or so and the beginning of a return to a sustainable life style for those that can produce their own food or have a skill they can barter with. A lot of people are going to die and cities will probably be a thing of the past. Think little ti-pi on the prairie or a cabin in the mountains with a few other like minded people around.
i have to agree with you. I make a good living but my home is 450 sqft and my prop tax is low. Living within means and relying on green not credit has conditioned most of us for the worst. Those who choose the credit way to success will fall the hardest. I really hope that we can get through this without having to find out if this is a correct assumption.
Me too, but the calamity isn't going to be avoided by using the same old solution of throwing money at the problem. Especially since money hasn't been worth the paper it is printed on since we went off the gold standard. When people realise the true value of the dollar we will likely devolve into a third world country in short order.
As far as the bankers and billionaires and the like, let them eat moose meat.
