Cubs right-hander Mark Prior went back on the 15-day disabled list Friday, this time with a strained left oblique muscle. Complete Story

Glendon Rusch did his part to help Chicago's injury-riddled pitching staff. Rusch filled in for Mark Prior with five solid innings and the Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 11-4 Sunday for their third straight win.
Cubs right-hander Mark Prior was a late scratch from Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers because of strained muscle on his left side.

Once Carlos Marmol calmed down on Saturday night, he was well on his way to snapping a four-start winless streak. Marmol overcame a wild start to pitch six effective innings and the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1.
Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood has a partial tear in his right rotator cuff and will be out at least four weeks. Wood underwent an arthrogram at Northwest Memorial Hospital on Friday, and the exam revealed the tear. The team said Saturday the options are conservative treatment or possible arthroscopic surgery on Wood's shoulder. A final decision hasn't been made on treatment.

Chris Capuano found out he didn't make the All-Star team about 90 minutes before his start Thursday night. It didn't stop him from pitching like one.
Sean Marshall gave the Chicago Cubs some hope with his second sparkling start at Minute Maid Park. The rookie allowed six hits and struck out two in seven strong innings to help the Cubs beat the Astros 1-0 on Wednesday night, averting a three-game sweep.

Chicago Cubs manager Dusty Baker met with general manager Jim Hendry on Wednesday and felt "comfortable" about his job status amid reports Hendry was considering staff changes during the All-Star break.
Andy Pettitte pitched six effective innings, Mike Lamb drove in three runs and a wild pitch by Mark Prior led to two runs for the Astros in a 7-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.
Angel Pagan looked like a man ready to party. The rookie wore a pinstriped suit, shades and a silver chain with a cross after hitting his first two career homers on his 25th birthday. And the Chicago Cubs held off the Chicago White Sox 15-11 Sunday afternoon to avoid a three-game sweep.

A.J. Pierzynski's three-run homer off closer Ryan Dempster capped a two-out rally in the ninth and lifted the Chicago White Sox over the Chicago Cubs 8-6 Saturday.
Derrek Lee's first homer in almost three months came at the best possible time for the reeling Chicago Cubs.
Carlos Lee gave the rookie some advice on how to face Greg Maddux.
Derrek Lee will be back with the Chicago Cubs for Sunday's game at Minnesota after just one minor league rehab appearance.
Brad Radke looked all but finished in May. His breaking ball wasn't breaking and his fastball was lifeless, rendering a normally outstanding changeup moot.
Kerry Wood's comeback has hit a snag. Maybe even a season-ending one for the Chicago Cubs right-hander.
Grady Sizemore stepped into the batter's box, looked out at Greg Maddux standing just 60 feet, 6 inches away and gulped — hard. Sometimes even major leaguers get star struck.

Kenny Rogers won his 200th game. Detroit set a club record with eight home runs. And Mark Prior had one of the worst outings of his career. The result was a 12-3 victory for the Tigers and more misery for the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

Carlos Guillen got it started with a drive into the right-field seats in the first inning. Magglio Ordonez and Placido Polanco did their part, too.

Mark Prior will make his first start of the season Sunday against the Detroit Tigers after missing the first 2 1/2 months with a strained shoulder.

He grew up in the suburbs and went to college in Chicago. On Friday, Curtis Granderson got a friendly welcome to the confines.
Houston's latest victory was a tough one for manager Phil Garner to sit through.
As a pitcher and also as a hitter, Roy Oswalt got rid of the rust quickly.

All Michael Barrett wanted was a routine hit to break a scoreless tie. With one graceful swing, he got a whole lot more.

We haven't even made it to the All-Star break and it's already time to look to next year for Cub's fans. There are some good ideas in this article - only thing I really disagree with is trading Mark Prior.
CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee has a fractured right wrist and will be in a cast for up to six weeks, the team announced late Thursday.
Oscar Acosta and Humberto Trejo were killed in a car accident in the Dominican Rebublic.
That's right. With a 3-0 record, some believe that Greg Maddux could be on pace for an excellent season. With only 20 wins behind Roger Clemens on the all-time list, Maddux doesn't have much to go. The question is, can he keep this pace up?
I know, I know...most of you are shaking your heads thinking, The Cubs? Well, yea the Cubs. I'll tell you why I believe they have a pretty decent shot of not only going to the postseason, but even making it to the final game, and winning it all.
"1. RHP Julian Tavarez, Red Sox. He argues with umpires and even has thrown one to the ground. He throws at batters' heads. He throws a mean right hook -- at players and dugout phones. No wonder he gets suspended a lot."
Telecom's new Commercial Unbundled Bitstream Service offer doesn't seem to appeal to New Zealand Internet providers.
He wants a guarenteed deal. Why do they keep offering him non-guaretneed deals?
This is great. Now they just need to lock him up.
For the Nationals this is not a good thing. For Sosa it is probably the best thing he can do for him self. I say that because I think Sosa was on the juice and if he was not then he was definately still using corked bats -- or maybe he stoped using the 'roids and corked bats.
I've been a White Sox fan for ten years and a season ticket holder for seven. While I would love for the Sox to be more popular in my home town I do not want them to reach the same level of popularity as the Cubs.
