Stock Alerts

Scottrade keeps you updated on your stocks so you don't miss stock trading opportunities when they arise. Our stock alerts are important messages sent to your online trading account when something important occurs with your chosen stock, when the market criteria you set for a security is met, or periodically sent on a schedule.

Common stock alert examples include:

  • Setting a price alert for a stock at a price where you think you'd like to buy or sell
  • Getting a stock alert from Scottrade telling you that an order you previously placed expired
  • Getting stock quote information for your Securities to Watch list at the end of every week

All Scottrade traders can receive four stock alert types:

  • Priority stock alerts – specific to your trading account and require action from you. These consist of margin and maintenance calls, Reg T warnings, pattern day trader and buy back warnings.
  • Account stock alerts – related to events that occur in your trading account, consisting of completed trades and cancelled orders.
  • Price and news stock alerts – let you know when your stock has reached a certain price or when important news has developed. Alerts include price, percent, volume, daily change ($), daily change (%), annual high-low, change versus index, moving average and news.
  • Periodic alerts – updates on your Watch Lists, sent to your Alert inbox, whenever you want them.
