Even by military standards, the A400M program has been a complete cow by just about every measure of good project management you care to name. The reasons are many and varied, but suffice to say they'll be lookign at this in business schools as a study on how not to do things.
Was it the fog of war or one of the most despicable attempts to draw the US into a war it had no business in? The attack on the USS Liberty by Israeli strike aircraft back in 1967 marked one of the most tense times in relations between the two close allies and has been subject to …
Welcome to the wonderful world of the foreign takeover...only this time its not the Americans at the gates of some far off land, but the foreigners actually undertaking a US specialty.

If the Russians have indeed left in a hurry, it could be a sign of some disagreement between the Russians and Iaranians...or more likely, the Russians actin on a tip off from US or Israeli sources that an attack by Israel and/ or the US could occur at any time.
Another good win for Boeing with the 787, this makes a huge vote of confidence in the 787 from a carrier with soem of th best growth potential in the world.
a new generation of aircaft interiors is about to be launched with the Singapore Airlines fitout of the A380 marking a milestone in air travel. It is a tug of war between weight and luxury and the mathematics are as complex as anything.
In a frightening harbinger of what we may soon all be in for, UK citizens will soon see just about anyone in the public service able to access details of their phone usage.
Giuliani may be leading the polls for the Republican nomination, but his liberal stance on so many issues is unacceptable to many Christians and as a result, there is a real risk of an active boycott or support for a "Third Force" if Giuliani were to secure the Republican nominat …
An exceptionally stupid statement by a remarkably stupid woman. Such racist and unintellectual comments do nothing to foster the case against the Iranian regime, which is inflicting great suffering on the Iranian people.
A fascinating concept that harnesses the collective power of the public to give a prediction on the outcome of an event which is going to be subject to much debate.
All I can saw is I hope those seats are indeed just a quick proof of concept for airlines and not a recommendation for a new type of seating class. What Airbus better learn is that photos like this do it absolutely no favours.
If anyone has any doubts how insanely capital intensive the aviation manufacturing industry is, this should allay any doubts. Even in low cost Russia, 300 units of a new plane will need to be produced before the project can break even.
Despite nice public words, India and China look set to maintain their strategic rivalry for a long time to come.
Up until this report, Goldman Sachs was bullish on the global economy, with the few voices of dissent within their ranks treated like one would treat a deranged relative.

This order is a mixed bag for both Boeing and Airbus. It hits Boeing hard by seeing Airbus get more A380 sales and thus stymie the 747-8 again, but similarly it also marks a very bad beating for the A350-XWB against Boeing's seemingly unstoppable 787.
The RRJ represents the first real attempt by Russia to crack the modern aviation market and represents a safe course: modern but not groundbreaking (and thus high risk) technology combined with a size that is just below that of Airbus and Boeing's smllest offerings.

Insightful, funny and informative, Borys gives a bit of corporate class to Newsvine. A great focus on aviation, defense, transport and banking with a bit of geo-politics thrown in, he always makes for an interesting read.
