TAKING YOUR BIKE ON THE EUROPEAN TRAINS

Folded bikes in a bag under 85 cm travel free. Cycles in a larger bag (up to 120 cm, 15€ single) or unfolded bikes (25€ single from Brussels, 29€ from Paris) may be indicated on the day of departure in the registered baggage service

Only folded or dismantled bikes, placed in a cycle bag (max 120x90 cm) can be transported in Thalys trains. You do not need to pay any extra fees.

You can reserve a place for your assembled bike in the dedicated bike room with the Train + Bike service. These (10€ single) tickets can be booked at the same time as your regular ticket, at any SNCF or CFF point of sale (not online).

Folded or regular bikes with a removed front wheel, placed in a case of 120x90cm max, can be taken in the TGV trains. No extra fees will be charged.

Bikes can be placed free in the special areas. These are limited, and you can not book in advance, so arrive in time! On certain routes you can not take a bike.

Unfolded bikes are allowed from Monday to Friday before 6:30 AM, between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM and after 7:30PM, and on weekends or school holidays.

You can take your bike for free on trains without a reservation. However, there are only 20 places available per train. On Intercités trains with compulsory reservation you must buy a ticket for your bike (price 10€) at the same time as your regular ticket. This can not be done online!

You can find out if your train has bike accommodation by simulating a research for your travel on the website. If the service displays a bike icon (see right) then the train can carry bikes. You must book your bike space at the same time as your train ticket (this can not be done online!).
