Google Video Chat - Nice but Still Rough

I tried out Google Video Chat today with a co-worker in the same office as me. It was rumored by some that the client would establish a direct connection (peer-to-peer) between the two chatting parties but I don't think one is.

McCain - Why I Didn't Vote For You

Mr. McCain, In your concession speech, you mentioned many things, one among them was the rhetorical statement, "I don't know what else we could have done to win". I'd like to take this opportunity to mention a few things you could have done that would have swayed some of us:

NFL - 2008 Week 4 Predictions

Sadly, I just haven't had any time to write these down this week - so I will have to bypass my normal mocking commentary on each game and instead just keep this clean and simple.. Stright up picks. Hopefully, I'll get a real article out next week.

Quite Simply, The Bailout is a Mistake

Unlike some people I don't forsee the Dark Ages should the bailout not happen; rather, I see the capitalistic system that our economy was built on doing its job.

NFL - 2008 Week 3 Predictions

I thought last week was ugly when I went 9-7 yet, somehow, this week I did even worse with a pitiful 8-7 record. I take solace in the hope that I would have gotten the Texans Ravens game right and thus matched week one.

Swoopo - A Different Kind of Auction Site

I came across the auction site, Swoopo, yesterday via a Google ad in my Gmail news ticker. I hadn't heard of the site so I decided to check it out (it seems ads do work on me sometimes).

NFL - 2008 Week 2 Predictions

So, let's get this ugly part of they way and see how I did last week, what my overall season record is, and then we'll move on to the fun part of seeing into the future. For the past week I'll show the matchup with my pick in bold. I'll put a (w) by the team that actually won.

NFL - 2008 Week 1 Predictions

I'm going to try and remember to do this every week. I did it for most of a season a couple of years ago but have been remiss since then. Enough of this idle chatter though - on with my predictions:

The Worst Fantasy Football Draft Ever

I have had some bad luck in the past few years in one of my fantasy football leagues; but this year, oh this year takes the cake. I couldn't be present for the live draft so I had to go into auto mode and boy did it auto screw me royally.

"Link Love" Encourages Spam

I love to know folks are reading my articles and, on the surface, Link Love seems like a great idea. It is basically taking a tip from the blogosphere and implementing a technology called "trackback" or "pingbacks" where you are informed when someone else links to your blog post.

Gregory House MD endorses Barack Obama?

A "Vote for Change 2008" bumpersticker was affixed to the wall in the bathroom stall scene in the final episode of House on Fox networks two nights ago. Fox is often decried as a bastion of conservative thought and speech (particularly their news channel).

A World of Grays

Few people will dispute that most choices are not simply choices between "best" and "worst" but rather, due to the various consequences each decision inevitably lies somewhere in the middle.

WV Democratic Primary - Full of passion and bad music

I happen to live in West Virginia (after a long strange journey). Actually, I live in Huntington, WV right on the Ohio, Kentucky, WV border and I have to say, since I moved here in 1996, this has been the most interesting day of primaries I can remember.

This summer there looks to be a series of good movies coming out. I get like this almost every year and end up not seeing any of them but I always hope to see a few. This year's lineup however looks a bit better than any of the recent summers I can remember.

A Neat Use For Twitter

I signed up for a Twitter account a long time ago but I have never really seen much value in it. Perhaps it is because I live in a small town, or maybe it is because I have no social life, but really the micro-blogging aspect just hasn't made much sense to me.

Recent Votes

  • Top Five Albums of 2008: Number Five

This was certainly a good year in music. While not as ridiculously strong as 2007, 2008 had more than its fair share of fantastic releases. Over the course of the next week ScooterDMan, Evan Mix and myself will list our picks for the best albums of the year.

  • Change NeoCons and Clintonite Dems can Believe In

Change isn't very likely if you look at the people Obama is surrounding himself with; instead of breaking from the Bushes and Clinton's Obama seems to be becoming one of them.

  • Golfer chooses honesty over possible Tour card

J.P. Hayes can't play full-time on the PGA Tour in 2009, and it's in large part because he turned himself in for a rules infraction.

  • Is it true that blacks owned slaves?

Slave ownership by blacks certainly wasn't common, so it's no surprise you hadn't come across it before. An article published only four decades after emancipation suggests most American blacks knew nothing about it even then.

  • Jealous, Miserable Heterosexuals Propose Prop 9

Real housewives of Orange County and counties across the country, jealous of the passage of Proposition 8 in California, have written Proposition 9, which they hope will ban all other types of marriage.
