Ok, Newsvine is causing me to experience the spectrum of emotions today. No small feat for a website that many people had never heard of a few months ago. Maybe going mainstream was too much for it.

I just added a comment and saw for the first time a three-minute countdown clock that enables one to make some changes if need be to one's comments.
Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

SALT LAKE CITY — The founder of Overstock.com rejected the NAACP's demand for an apology Friday after an Internet video surfaced of him saying that Utah minorities who don't graduate from high school might as well be burned or thrown away.

In recent days, I've had a couple comments added to articles/seeds that were posted long ago. I always wonder how that happens. Users may search for a tag and stumble across an article that has been dead for quite a while. What a shock it is to see that in the c …

In the old days the British public vented their spleen on rogues by pelting them with rotten eggs and squashed tomatoes. The stocks were a prominent part of life – the threat of their humiliation hung over village life.

Comments of a BG journalist

Here is the deal people. Since I have been on Newsvine for about nine weeks, I have noticed many writers on this site who go over and above. So I think that we should recognize these people.
Here is how it works.

Usually, I'm so busy, I appear to be anti-social...on the vine and in my day-to-day life. I'm really not.

Following yesterday's poll about voting for your own articles/comments, I have become curious how people typically arrive at any given article.

From the article: I recently spent a couple of days trying to help people in The (Cincinnati) Enquirer newsroom come to terms with ethical challenges that affect journalists almost everywhere in this cyber era.

Let me say this first, reading of the news of Jerry Falwell's death was neither the happiest nor the saddest moment of my life. Just like most everyone I know I had a lot of issues with the things he has said. But unlike a lot here on newsvine I did not rejoice in his death.

I love newsvine, but there are times I really can't stand it either. Don't get me wrong it is awesome to see how people from all over the world feel about all the issues that affect us today. From dogs to the war in Iraq, from video games to global warming, it is all here.
