Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to have her political colors mixed up while supporting a congressional candidate in Kansas.

Ocasio-Cortez, speaking in a video posted to Sen. Bernie Sanders' Twitter account, said she, Sanders and Brent Welder would "flip this seat red in November."

She surprisingly won a New York Democratic primary on a socialist platform in June and has been under the media spotlight ever since.

Speaking on "Fox & Friends" Saturday, Fox News' Neil Cavuto said that even as she stumbles, Ocasio-Cortez has the passion of the left on her side.

"In the midterms, that passion could go a long way to getting people out to the polls," he said.

The 28-year-old political newcomer was roundly ridiculed for flubbing an interview question last week in which she criticized Israel’s "occupation” of the Palestinian territories.

When PBS host Margaret Hoover asked her to clarify what she meant, Ocasio-Cortez fumbled over her words and acknowledged that she is "not the expert at geopolitics on this issue."

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez also gave Ocasio-Cortez high praise earlier this month by dubbing her "the future of our party."
