FTP Setup Using Internet Explorer

Problem:

I am having problems using FTP with Internet Explorer browser

This is primarily caused by incorrect syntax for the way that IE will recognize a domain name on a shared IP address.

Solution:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. In the Address bar type in your information following this syntax:
    ftp://username%40domain.com:@domain.com
  3. For the domain name Justhost.com, this might look something like:
    ftp://justhost%40Justhost.com:@Justhost.com
  4. This should bring up a window asking for the password.
  5. Enter the password and click Log on
Additional Information:

A more secure way to use FTP transfer would be to use webdisk from within cPanel. This acts like using FTP through an IE browser but provides the use of a secure port for the transfer of data.
