Let's talk College Football

Not exactly a huge night for sports, but with the NBA out there a few things are worth watching tonight.

Halloween Night Sports Recap

I didn't watch a lot last night, all that time trick or treating kept me away from the tube, spent most of my time watching the NBA and the doubleheader on ESPN. Although I was excited to see that NHL Network now seems to be a fixture on DIRECTV.

We the Users - The New Newsvine

Yesterday Killfile was brought in for discussion on live national TV as a representation of us, the users who make Newsvine. He was of course the obvious choice, as even the most hawkish Conservative would agree, as he brought something more to the Vine.

Sox Rox: Who do you like?

The matchup seems improbable. A least the entrant from the National League. As of September 15th nobody even expected the Rockies to be in playoffs. Now because they are perfect in the postseason, they are playing for the World Championship.

LSU romps past error prone Bulldogs.

Here is the five minute recap of what I saw in this game. Start the timer.

Syracuse to visit Virginia

Syracuse will travel to Virginia to play the Cavaliers on December 4th. The Orange was left out of the NCAA tournament last season despite a 20-win season in the Big East.

A couple of thoughts from Camden Yards

Took in the Orioles come from behind win at Camden Yards today. Kevin Millar's three-run walkoff job won it in the bottom of the tenth. Miggy Tejeda's two-run blast had tied it in the eighth.

Where will the surprises come from?

Ten games that may surprise you in college football's first month. I'm not guaranteeing that these ten games will be upsets, but that have the possibility.

Bonds: How should I feel?

I'm a young baseball fan. Or at least young enough that I don't ever remember Hank Aaron playing baseball. Still, I'm mad about what happened in San Francisco last evening.

Bonds hits 756

A 3-2 pitch from Mike Bacsik and Bonds sent #756 into the bleachers in right center. A congratulations message from Hank Aaron whose record he broke followed. Bonds then thanked his family, teammates and others in an on field celebration.

Four Weeks til College Football

Actually, college football really starts in 26 days on that big Thursday night where BCS contender LSU faces Mississippi State. And there are plenty of other lidlifters that night.

Tonight could be Torre's last

I'm not saying its a sure thing. But if the Yankees lose tonight, thus falling 11 1/2 behind Boston, I think there is a good chance that tonight's game is Torre's last with the Pinstripes. The Yankees have a ton of excuses for why things aren't right. Some of them are legitimate.

Adelman is a great hire

Hearing the news that the Houston Rockets were about to name Rick Adelman as their head coach made me shake my head in amazement last night. I've always been a big admirer of Adelman and his coaching abilities.

Thinking Out Loud: Headed for the Weekend

Billy Gillespie is the new head basketball coach at Kentucky. I think its a good hire and a pretty good fit. Gillespie won at UTEP and he won at Texas A&M;, so you have to figure he can win at Kentucky. It won't be an overnight change, the SEC is too deep.

Thinking Out Loud: Donovan to Stay

I guess what I was told was wrong. Because it now appears that Billy Donovan will stay at Florida, turning down Kentucky's overtures.

Thinking Out Loud: More Sports Stuff

The NCAA tournament wasn't set up for the best team to win. The single elimination format leads to upsets. But sometimes the best team does win. Last night, there was no doubt.

Thinking Out Loud:Monday Storylines

Is today the best day in sports? With the championship game of the greatest sports event in the country, and the opening of America's pasttime its hard to argue that its not.

Donovan offered $3 million per year at Kentucky

Sources have confirmed to me that Billy Donovan has been offered the University of Kentucky job at $3 million per season. The deal is worth at least 7 seasons, and the final contract could be for as many as 12 years.

American downs low scoring Mount

Mount Saint Mary's went the final 6:48 of the first half without a point, and could never fully recover as American cruised to a 59-46 win at Knott Arena on Monday night.

Mount hosts American

The Mount is back in action tonight, after an 0-2 roadtrip. They return to Coach Jim Phelan Court at Knott Arena, where they are 1-0. The American Eagles are on hand for tonight's contest. I think both teams are pretty evenly matched, with maybe a slight edge to AU.

College Hoops Top 25

Some grappling at the top this week. I think it has been an interesting few weeks to start the season. Still a lot of question marks out there, that were sure will be answered as the season progresses.
