Yeah, I know, it's day 6 of the 8-day Festival of Lights. I had planned to make a video, or even a photo essay, but could find no co-conspirators, so I'll just have to give the recipe, and the recipe is what it's all about. To make about 8 small latkes (potato pancakes):

Okay, everyone. This will be short and sweet. I've created a group to which articles and seeds by suspected spammers of Newsvine can be clipped. You may find it at Newsvine Spammers.

Subtitle: Climbing Down off of that Treadmill I'm going to go out on a limb and proffer a couple of thoughts regarding Christmas gifts, as the current ritual involving the exchange of pseudo-random material goods is both very odd to me, as well as strangely dissatisfying[1].

Okay, I'm sitting in a slightly skeevy room at the Econo lodge in Toronto with Ryan Stolte-Sawa and Jon Nagelmakers, wondering if we should pick up a couple of hookers from the corner or go to a club, and I've been traveling all day. This is about all I can handle at the moment.

I just noticed the announcement this morning when checking my email. Chat with multiple people without multiple windows. Invite your friends to a group discussion.

I know I promised this article a couple of weeks ago. What can I say? I've been, er, busy? Anyway, I figured I'd just give y'all my impressions of the event.

In lieu of working what some people would qualify as a "job," I've decided instead to devote a great deal of my free time (it's all free time, I suppose) to digging up information on my antecedents.

At last, we are happy to announce that Viki Gonia, aka VikiBabbles, is just the 15th Newsviner to ever receive the Random Act of Vineness award. Long overdue - we want to recognize not only the big things Viki has done, but also the many small things.

Yesterday Killfile was brought in for discussion on live national TV as a representation of us, the users who make Newsvine. He was of course the obvious choice, as even the most hawkish Conservative would agree, as he brought something more to the Vine.

Though the general election is still more than a year away, it certainly feels like election season in America. Crisp fall air, a shower of falling leaves, and non-stop political coverage from CNN to MSNBC have set the stage for yet another in a long string of primary debates.

This book — which concludes that 9/11 led to an assault on the freedom and independence of American women — is the sort of tendentious, self-important, sloppily reasoned work that gives feminism a bad name.
I think we all have at least a passing acquaintance with the Code of Honor but a lot of the complaints about violating the COH are motivated by perception or even occasionally a personality conflicts, and even once in a while as a because of ideology clashes.
Frank Bradley Crist, 34, of Chicago and formerly of Terre Haute died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in Chicago. Frank was my friend. And now he's gone. He's presumably floating around wherever atheist anarchists go for the rest of eternity.
Great new photo!
Viki,
Congratulations on your upcoming turn on MSNBC. Score one for the distaff side of Newsvine.
Break a leg, kid.

Actually my real comment...
Viki is the first NV friend that I had and I am always in the learning mode with Viki, she is one very amazing woman who must have at least 25 fingers to keep up with all her speed typing and she seems to follow an amazing amount of subjects and has some really neat and interesting comments about today's events.
Viki is one awesome person ! I very much look forward to meet Viki in real life, I have learned alot from her and love reading what she writes.

Well, it appears that the only things that get people to my column via google have to do with Britney SpearsIts been a really really long time Viki, hows Brit doing these days ?
Viki is one of my best friends on Newsvine, and one of my favourite people in the world. She sincerely wants to make the world a better place, but wants to do it on her own terms. Her column and comments are full of candor and humor, each in their measure, with a dash of compassion and humanity that makes the whole thing slide down so that most people don't notice what she is really trying to do, which is a @!$%#ing art form. If I had to recommend five people from the 'vine that everyone should read, she would be at the top of the list.
Only one word for Viki.
"Booyah"

Vabbles is probably one of the people that keeps me living. We really don't talk much... at all... but I'll tell you a story.
I hate my near-mother-in-law with a complete passion. Talking to Viki one day, I got the following advice:
Invite your m-i-l on a lovely vacation to the beach. Arrange for her to go on a dolphin-petting expedition, and tell her she must first apply a special lotion that will prevent the sea water from weathering her skin.
You will, of course, have replaced the fluid in the bottle with blood.
Tell her it's iodine.
Love always, Viks. :-))

Viki,
You are one of the most versatile of all Viners, covering diverse topics with great writing and an ever-present smile.
I'm proud to call you my friend.
Now send me a pizza.

Who ever said that babbling was a bad thing?! Viki is a wonderful voice on Newsvine. Her rants are something to behold! I always reading her stuff. Pork rules. :)

I think you are the first person I've seen that has self-friended. Nicely done.
Viki is my evil twin that I never knew I had because mom just doesn't like to do about that kind of stuff.
She inspires me at times. She also makes me feel better when I babble because I think I may be Scott "Butki's Babble" Butki but at least I knew not to add that to my name when I joined here. But I think she has, without even perhaps meaning to, brought self-deprecation to a new level of art/genius because if she were to ever babble - as I'm demonstrating right here with this particular sentence - nobody can complain and if they do she can just say, "hey, it's my god-damn name so of course I'm babbling. What of it?"
Or "You better not pick on my or I'll sic my pacifist evil twin on you and he'll.. he'lll... he'll write mean things about you."
So I have your back.
Sort of.

You are one of my favorite addictions on Newsvine. Like a box of chocolates with a sweet cherry center, your articles are refreshing and interesting. Keep babbling Viki!
I love the vine... but recently it was brought to my attention; through someones sharing great infinite wisdom that there are some here that only comment on their articles and don't really comment on their friends, or anyone else's articles on the vine...
ON December 8th Hillary Clinton received what should have been a boost from Andrew Young, one of the giants of the civil-rights movement. Mr Young pronounced that he wants her chief rival, Barack Obama, to be president—but in 2016, not 2008.
An apparent tornado demolished a jail building and overturned vehicles early Sunday in central Florida, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
I need help, someone, please. The article i wrote this morning appears published without paragraph indentations.
Many older women often worry about whether to dye their hair or not. But it shouldn't be any kind of issue. Dying one's hair is like any fashion statement: we go with what makes us comfortable. We do not have any angst about dying our hair in different shades when we are younger.
