I'm just an ordinary kiwi who loves to read, and has been sucked into the world of vampires in the past couple of years. Big kudos to CH for giving us the wonderful world of the Southern Vampires, and Allan Ball for giving some of them serious visuality.

November '13: For the AS fans amongst us, the three Walking with the Wounded teams, for whom AS heads the Americans, leaves for the month long trek to the South Pole within the next day or so. Well worth following, as those who have watched Harry's Heroes will attest to(The original English team who made it to the North Pole in 2011).

13 Dec. Glad to say, they all made it! Several hiccups on the way but they're all smiling!

Btw, if you want some apposite but weird amusement, search out a film 'Beyond The Pole' in which AS is one of a pair of Norwegian carbon neutral, vegetarian, unsupported gays heading for the Pole. I kid you not!

Nov '14 Massive apologies to anyone still looking at what I've written, hoping for more. I've done a lot of reading, travelling and work on my home this year, plus my mind has been more focussed on my own original writing, hence the complete lack of updating. I'd love to say I'll do better, but I have no idea, so no piecrust promises here. With the limp ending of both the Southern Vampire books AND True Blood it's fair to say many fans are disillusioned and somewhat heartsick, myself included. Only the well-written fanfiction has made me feel that someone else believes in Eric and Sookie as much as I do. I hope those writers continue, and have tried to favourite the best ongoing ones as well as those past who inspired me best.

Dec '15 Still here but reading only as I've been working since March on my own full length historical fiction novel. As my favourites reveal, I've been reading a lot of Star Trek fiction, both the original series and the two more recent films, in part because of the sheer quality of some of the writing as well as enjoying the escapism. Meantime it's good to see AS in a range of films and I do look forward to seeing him in Tarzan next year.
