This year's E3 broke records as 48,200 video game industry professionals, analysts, retailers, and journalists attended the show, the Entertainment Software Association announced. In comparison, last year's E3 saw 45,700 attendees. Not a big surprise considering the industry is on the brink of a new console generation. The ESA also revealed the dates for next year's E3. E3 2014 will take place on June 10-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Bad news for the fighting game community. Mad Catz's popular Tournament Edition FightStick for the PlayStation 3 will be incompatible with the PS4, Mad Catz has confirmed to Joystiq. "Playstation 4 will require a whole new set of peripherals," Richard Neville says, senior product development manager for Mad Catz.

DayZ mod creator Dean Hall has expressed interest in bringing the multiplayer zombie game to the PlayStation 4, Eurogamer reports.

Double Fine has announced two new games in development at indie game conference Horizon. The two titles will be funded by the IndieFund project. No further details were revealed.

Fez 2 was announced today at Horizon, an indie game conference at E3. The sequel will be developed by Polytron with music by Disasterpeace, who also worked on the original Fez. No platforms or release date have been announced.

Nintendo has announced plans to update its Nintendo 3DS SteetPass feature, as announced in its E3 Analyst Briefing. A system update will be released by this fall that will allow for easier StreetPasses by taking advantage of 28,000 Wi-Fi access points found in Starbucks, McDonald's, and other venues in the United States. For Europe, the 3DS will utilize 24,000 access points.

Troy Baker, the voice actor who has starred in recent hit titles like The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite, will also be lending his vocals as Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This is confirmed via a tweet from Hideo Kojima.

Previously announced for Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3, Rainbow 6: Patriots is now a next-generation game, Ubisoft's Tony Key confirms to IGN.
