Black Ops II Taking a Ride Back to Nuketown

Written by: Dan Seitz | June 28, 2012 at 1:03PM

Nuketown was one of the most popular maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Now it appears that if you preorder the sequel you'll be able to see what's been done with the place in the intervening 70 years.

The Nuketown map was based on test ranges built for nuclear weapons in the 1950s. These ranges resembled typical American suburbs and were blown to radioactive dust to see what effect nuclear weapons would have. The map itself includes the nuke, which drops to end the match.

Black Ops II will take us to Nuketown circa 2025. According to ad copy spotted by fans, now the radioactive hijinks will take place in a "home of the future".

We're not sure how the home of the future would incorporate tactical nuclear weapons, but maybe Nuketown has become a rough neighborhood. The ad copy also mentions the map being part of a "Limited Edition".

Currently this information has only been seen in the UK. GameStop will be revealing its preorder exclusives on July 1st, which will likely give us an idea of where US gamers can get their hands on the map.
