PS Vita Firmware 1.8 Will Support PSOne Classics

Written by: Dan Seitz | July 03, 2012 at 11:00AM

Want to get caught up on your classic PSOne games? You'll be able to use the Vita to do it once firmware 1.8 has been released. Well… sort of.

The good news is that the firmware will be updated to accept PSOne Classics. The bad news is that this won't automatically mean all PSOne Classics will be playable. Sony will be rolling out Classics for the Vita a few at a time to ensure that each game is playable and that there are no bugs.

The silver lining for impatient gamers is that if you've already purchased a compatible PSOne Classic game you won't need to buy it again. Now it's largely a question of what games will first be available for the Vita; Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy VII seem to be likely first-day launches.

What about you? What PSOne games do you want to see available on the Vita?
