Fan Mod Brings Morrowind Into Skyrim

Written by: Dan Seitz | September 21, 2012 at 7:30AM

The settings of the Elder Scrolls series are all enormous and expansive, and while in-game they're right next to each other, practically speaking they're all separated from each other by time and technological advances.

Which doesn't stop fans from trying to port them in, and one group is doing their best to bring Morrowind into Skyrim.

As you can see, they're doing a fairly impressive job of it.

The enormous fan undertaking is not without precedent. It came out of plans to bring Morrowind into Oblivion, and in fact, there are also plans at work attempting to rebuild Oblivion in Skyrim as well.

Or perhaps "rebuild" is a better term. You see, Bethesda actually went to the trouble of building portions of Tamriel in Skyrim so you'd see the landmass if you got far enough, but simply stuck them behind an invisible wall. If you have the PC version, you can turn on no-clip and explore a fair chunk of the landmass of Tamriel at low resolution. It shows a level of detail: the idea is that if for some reason you're fairly high up and the weather is clear, you'll be able to see other parts of the continent.

Of course, that isn't stopping fans from dreaming that eventually, the entire series will get an HD remake and be fitted together in one expansive game. And one way or the other, they'll make that a reality.
