In early 2011, I started searching for a new job. At the beginning, I had a desire to join a reputable company with strong leadership and a positive outlook. To find such a company, my job search led me to the FORTUNE® “100 Best Companies to Work For” list.
Immediately, Scottrade was a company that stood out among the list of best companies—the fact that they had never had a layoff really resonated with me. I found it encouraging that Scottrade was ranked on the FORTUNE® “100 Best Companies to Work For” list several years in a row. That strive for excellence was something that I knew I wanted to be part of, and for that reason I went to the Scottrade careers website to learn more about working there and to search current job openings.
I will never forget that first phone call from the recruiter inviting me to interview at Scottrade. Just to land an interview with a FORTUNE® “100 Best Companies to Work For” was huge to me, and I knew my job search was finally moving in the right direction.
Then a little over a month ago, my aspiration to have a career at Scottrade finally turned into a reality. I became one of the more than 450 new associates hired by Scottrade in 2011! Each day, I am getting the opportunity to learn more about Scottrade and how it works to meet the needs of the self-directed investor. Being a Scottrade employee and experiencing the teamwork among the associates working on the Scottrade® Mobile App and Scottrade Bank® is very rewarding.
Today I learned Scottrade placed 31 on the FORTUNE® “100 Best Companies to Work For” list in 2012. Finding out that my new employer was recognized for a fifth consecutive year by FORTUNE® was a gratifying moment for me as I knew I made the right decision.
