Matchstick McCoy is an absurd comedy. He’s an old fashioned cop with a contempt for authority and a love of Kung Fu. Constantly being on suspension doesn’t keep his boss, The Chief, from calling him in and partnering him up with yet another reluctant hero to get the job done. With stereotypes galore, story formulas mocked and exploitation exploited – each of the four episodes is a complete story with its own unique theme: The Oriental Express, The English Connection, Big and Black and Eye for an Eye. Matchstick McCoy presents a world that mixes the various exploitive genres from Kung Fu films, Blaxploitation, classic Bond, and good old American television action into a humorous spoof.
