Graves' disease is trending after rapper and producer Missy Elliot revealed that she suffers from the condition. Graves' disease occurs from hyperthyroidism, when too much thyroid hormone is produced, and causes rapid heart rate, insomnia, muscle weakness, and fatigue, among other symptoms. Elliot told People magazine that she's been undergoing radiation therapy to manage the disease. She recently reunited with Timbaland to work on a new album, Block Party, her first in six years. Former President George H.W. Bush also suffers from Graves' disease, as does his wife Barbara.
