In this post, we're going to continue talking about making your own synths in Ableton using just the Simpler. Last time, we talked about how to make an oscillator out of any old sound you can find on your computer. Now, we're going to talk about how to layer those oscillators to make more complex sounds. Check out this video and let me know what you think! As always, the text version is below. First, find your oscillator that we made in the last post. Then, select the oscillator and right/cntl-click to make into into an Instrument Rack. Open the chain view and right/cntl-click to create a new chain. Drag any sound into the open chain. If you just drag a sound file into the chain, it should make a whole new Simpler by itself! Repeat the procedure from my previous post on the new oscillator. Using the chain view, adjust the volume of the chains to create different sound combinations. You can also change the envlelope settings of the different chains to create more complex sounds.
