Trading During Extended Hours

Scottrade clients have a variety of trading choices available to them during extended market hours. However, trading outside regular market hours is quite different than trading during the normal market day.

Available Securities – Listed equity symbols are available for trading during extended hours. OTC stocks, bonds, funds, options and other securities may be traded only during regular market hours.

Order Types – Buy and sell limit orders may be placed, and selling short and buying to cover limit orders is permitted. All other orders, regardless of the time they are placed, will be executed during regular trading hours.

Limit prices may include up to two decimal places for stocks priced $1 and higher, and up to four decimal places for stocks priced under $1.

Order Duration – Only day orders may be placed during extended hours. Other durations such as good til canceled (GTC) are not permitted.

Order Size – Extended hours trades may not exceed 999,999 shares per order.

Order Modification – Changes and cancellations to extended hours orders are permitted before the order is executed.

Odd Lots – Odd lot trades are permitted during extended trading hours.

All or None – All or none (AON) orders are not permitted outside regular market hours.
