Pre-Market and After-Hours Stock Trading
To place a Pre-Market or After-Hours order, log in to your account, click on the Trade tab, and click on the Pre-Market/After-Hours Order Entry link on the left side of the page. Keep in mind this link will only be active during the respective trading session.
Pre-Market and After-Hours trading is a means of trading through Electronic Communications Networks (ECNs) before the regular trading session in certain NASDAQ and Listed securities. Options are not available for extended hours trading. ECNs match buy and sell orders at specified (limit order) prices. If you want to buy a stock through an ECN, but there are no sell orders to match the buy order, the order will not be executed until a matching sell order is received, and vice versa.
Pre-Market and After-Hours trades are not held to time and sales, and Pre-Market trades cannot exceed 100,000 shares per order. On any day, Pre-Market and After-Hours trading may be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, or terminated early without any prior notice.
Limit Orders
You may only enter day limit orders for Pre-Market and After-Hours trading. If your order is not executed, it will expire at the end of the Pre-Market or After-Hours Trading session each day. Orders will not roll over or carry over to the regular trading session, after-hours trading session or the next day's trading session.
Pre-Market and After-Hours orders may be modified and cancelled; however, these orders are subject to prior execution. You will be responsible for any execution at your original price. You will not be able to change a Pre-Market order to a regular session order or a regular session order to an After-Hours order. Pre-Market, Regular Session Trading and After-hours Trading are separate trading sessions, and orders are not linked between the sessions.
Order qualifiers may not be used in the Pre-Market or After-Hours trading session. All executed orders will be processed as a trade for that day subject to the three-business day settlement.
Note: Pre-Market and After-Hours Trading involves increased risk. Please review and understand the risks involved in trading in the Pre-Market and After-Hours before placing an order.
