In order to make permanent changes to a list, you need to use either Create List or Edit List. Using Add Symbols or Delete only makes temporary changes to a list. Create List and Edit Lists are found under the Stock Lists button.
Make sure your list has a list name. If you do not have a name for your list you will be unable to save any changes. Re-create your list with a list name so you can edit and save changes.
Saving issues can also be the result of your firewall or router settings. To switch connection types:
1. Click on the button on the menu bar at the top of your Scottrader screen labeled Settings.
2. Click on Connection.
3. Switch the connection setting from Use Socket Connection to Use HTTP Connection.
4. Press OK and then Yes to reconnect to Scottrader Streaming Quotes.
5. Click the OK button in the upper right of the main Scottrader window.
6. Now try saving your list again.
If you have tried using the information here and are still unable to save a list, e-mail us with details of the issue you are seeing. Please send the e-mail from the e-mail address registered with your Scottrade account or include that address in your e-mail so we can verify your account number. Please do not send us your account number via e-mail, as we cannot guarantee your Internet connection is secure.
6. Why do the symbols show but no information is scrolling?
First check that the top left of the window says Active.
Make sure you still have a connection to the Internet. If you lose your connection to the Internet, you will not be able to receive quote data.
If you are accessing through a work network, make sure you have access through TCP socket 443. Check with your System Administrator to make sure you have access through port 443 to secure sites. If they need to restrict access, e-mail us and we can provide you with further information.
A connection issue may also be causing this problem. Please see question 5 for more information about switching settings.
If you continue to have trouble, please contact us.
7. When I click on the Scottrader link, nothing happens.
First check that your system meets the requirements necessary to access the Scottrader quote system. See System Requirements.
If your system meets the necessary requirements, make sure that you do not have any pop-up inhibiting software enabled. Many Internet Service Providers are now including pop-up inhibiting software. Some of these include America Online, EarthLink and MSN. This software is also available for download from the Internet. Pop-up inhibiters can block access to Scottrader. Pop-up inhibitors have to be disabled or have to be set to allow pop-ups for our site in order to access Scottrader.
